Amazing video. The fact that it has 1.3 K views as a failure of KZbin as an artist, I'm always thinking about value and why some artists get more exhibitions or sales, etc. I really love what you're saying in this video. I'm gonna have to think about it for quite some time. Also I am very excited to see, your conversation with Rory Sutherland, which came up as a suggestion! Well done. Looking forward to seeing more.

The value is the twist at the ending of the video. Great job.

Nice reasoning here. Social proof is also a contributing factor. We look to others to tell us what is valuable in art and then we internalize that value and our behaviour reflects our beliefs.

Thanks my fellow Peter! Totally agree, in fact, in my research for this video, I found out that professional art valuations are done partially based on what similar pieces are going for on the market. So nothing to do with the quality of the art at all, all social!

I can't listen to the same song by any other singer other than my favourite singer Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan. Now I know why. This was a brilliant video Pete.

I know you're making a larger point about art, rather than just the mona lisa, but I thought this story was relevant as well: www.npr.org/2011/07/30/138800110/the-theft-that-made-the-mona-lisa-a-masterpiece The claim is that the Mona Lisa wasn't really all that famous until the early 1900s when some people decided to steal it and it was missing for 2 years. Because of all the attention it received then, that is why its so famous today!

Right! Just like how the value of the blue objects for the bower birds comes from the knowledge that other birds are trying to steal them. Knowing that other people want to steal the Mona Lisa gives it it’s mystique

Blue is rare in nature like green prety rare in sky. Thats fair enough 😊
