We're asking the wrong question. The question should not be "why didn't victor tell himself the correct equation." The question should be "why is is necessary for earth to be destroyed so humanity can progress?" Because the unity is an enitity with access to a theoretically infinite universe. So logically, there must be a universe where both earth survives and humanity conquers the stars. Yet in all the New Game plus universes we never see that, nor do we find empty worlds where everything is destroyed. You could just say "hurr durr Bethesda can't write." I think there is more too it.

I thought we were just limited based on our original Universe & time’s traveled to the Unity. We would eventually be able to travel to Universes unlike our own, but are currently restricted based off our home universe’s rules & restrictions. “In the Infinite Universe, Tamriel does exist; you just can’t reach it as you currently are.” God Howard - probably.
@Fuar115 ай бұрын
The thing is.. it's not necessary. But Victor's reasoning is that if Earth isn't destroyed now, it will be destroyed later by something else. So by keeping it secret he's not delaying the inevitable. And he knows that if Earth is destroyed here, humanity will get to the stars. He is absolutely 100% guaranteed that will happen because he saw the future.

@@UpperDarbyDetailingDLC and updates won’t fix core structural issues in the game. That takes mods but I can say from very extensive modding experience that mods which refactor quest or world content are rare because they are difficult to make and an absolute compatibility nightmare. I was actually kind of looking forward to Starfield but I returned it after 2 hours and noticing numerous red flags based on previous experience with Bethesda games. I watched for reviews and those red flags I noticed were confirmed and worse than I thought possible. From being railroaded in quests to uninspired uninteresting worlds to nonsensical and physically impossible guns… No thanks. If I ever pick it up, it will be in 5-10 years once the modding community has disassembled and reassembled it. The modding scene is what has made Skyrim and Fallout 4 playable for me. If you enjoy the game stock - I have no idea how you do it, but good for you. I’m not saying you shouldn’t. @@thelvadam5113 well it was the artifacts. Humans were told how to bend space, they didn't figure it out. Victor's slate described him talking to himself. That's what happens at Unity. His vision was that of Unity, and he told himself how to use the artifact to create the grav drive.

That's one of the issues with the game. A lot of passion went into this thing. But it's hidden and as a result the game is bland on the surface. The mystery of what killed earth and why, that should be the actual plot of the game. But it's not. Just a side quest that goes nowhere.
@KnightShadowsong11 ай бұрын
My answer to your question at the end Ox is this, (Spoilers if you haven't finished the game yet) assuming this version of Victor was Starborn, and he'd lived through multiple versions of his own discovery of the grave drive, it must have been the ones where the earth became uninhabitable that the settled systems actually developed into what it is. thus, when his self in this timeline touched the mars artifact and he was able to give himself the calculations for the Grav drive, it's entirely possible he decided to Not give him the grav drive that wouldn't cause the Sputtering of the earth's atmosphere because he knew that for the settled systems to happen Earth had to be lost. this is pure speculation on my part, but that seems to be the most likely answer given the multi-verse they are aiming for. But you have to wonder, what would the settled systems be like if Earth hadn't needed to be abandoned. what would have happened in the Colony war? or would the Colony War have happened at all? that's the biggest issue with Multi-verse anything, you can literally make the case for anything happening.

Maybe he did not know how to solve the Grav-Drive problem, but he thought telling himself would give the other him more time to solve the issue. And in the end, he was right. They did solve the problem, but it was too late. Then, there's the issue of why he did not warn him of what happened. This could also be because he figured his other self would not pursue the technology if he knew the outcome.

I always got the impression that Victor did tell him what would happen and even gave himself the choice of not causing the Earths destruction, but doing so would have set back humanities exploration of the rest of the galaxy. Victor just chose to go with the Earth dies and humanity spreads across the galaxy option. My crackpot theory is that it wasn't Victor giving himself information, but whoever was that created the unity, as humanity moving to the stars and the constant traveling through the unity was something that they wanted for whatever reason. Now how would this entity have fooled Victor into thinking it was him giving him the information? Starborn can call on alternate versions of others to fight for them, so having them stand in and tell their other selves what they want to hear shouldn't be outside of the abilities of whoever created the unity.

clearly the other Victor Knew and did not tell his self about the "error" because there was none...it was intentional so that Humankind as a whole would be Forced to Leave before they fell victim to themselves. Great video as always. Honestly, I think the reason that alternate Victor didn't give Victor the proper way to create a grav drive without destroying the earth is a simple one. Humans are creatures of habit. A majority of the population wouldn't leave earth to explore the universe or move to a different planet if earth was ok. The only way to successfully move humanity from earth into the stars was to destroy earth, giving those creatures of habit no other choice but to embrace the change.

Einstein's theory of relativity. As you approach the speed of light everything else slows down because time moves relative to the observer. Hence a form of time travel. This mixed with Shrödingers Cat. Meaning anything that can happen will happen which means it probably did happen. This helps form the Grandfather Paradox. Which is explained in BioShock infinite. The whole point is that anything that can happen will happen and already has happened, which means it will keep happening over and over. Basically Victor's story needs to happen because it already did happen. So now it needs to happen so everything else can happen. It will only keep repeating itself because it will always happen. Its like a fixed point that will always happen because that's how we perceive time. Hope this helps to anyone who actually finds this as fascinating as i did.

I like your content and you do it well. I don't like this plot element and the holes in it. It feels thrown together just because Bethesda didn't want to model Earth accurately (which I know would have made the game a few terabytes or more). There's no reason Victor would see another version of himself who knows the far future. He couldn't have encountered another version of himself because he never went to the Unity. It makes no sense the scientists wouldn't have shut off the prototype. It's not adequately explained that the damage to Earth was permanent. It makes no sense this other version of Victor wouldn't give him the fix for the grav drive to prevent the issue in the first place. That would have allowed humanity to expand to the stars and keep Earth alive. Bethesda could have done a better job buttoning up the plot holes or gone with some other reason for not being able to visit Earth at all.

In fifty years they could not save a few DNA samples of Earth plants and animals to have like cats and dogs, a few birds, reptiles, cattle, fish, plants, and trees? I find that hard to believe that they would leave all that behind to die without safeguarding a few species. And If they can build habs on barren planets how is it they could not do that for those they had to leave behind to extend evacuation time. At the very least they could have built underground facilities like Cydonia. That makes no sense to me.

I’m confident that the Victor who gave the Grav Drive equation to his alternate self was a or possibly the first Starborn. It makes sense how he could’ve met himself and be alive while being dead in our timeline. It’s kind of like how we, as Starborn, are alive in a new timeline while our alternate self is “missing” or dead or how we can exist almost side a version of ourselves

ponders how much that plush costs to make...how much of the cost goes to Oxhorn and how much goes elsewhere. To be honest Id be more likely to order if I knew. Total cost to me with shipping and tax is just under $40.00 and it askes for a donation on top. I love OX but donate to his patron already. Happy holidays everyone

Fun fact: The NASA museum and launch tower could very well be the Kennedy Space Center, located at Cape Canaveral, Florida

Fun fact: it is. Although the museum part looks nothing like in the game. Then again it's 2023 so they have 100 years to change its look. The tower would most likely be launch pad A being as launch pad B is pretty much owned by Space X.

sounds to me like they didn't have enough time to flesh out earth or were just lazy. considering how small their cities are on other supposedly fully colonized planets. id say earth would be a challenge since they have to make every city on earth. and as an earthling I can say we sure have a lot of them

I actually got enraged when you find out why, was because they put time into the story, but I’d love to see actual wastelands cities all in ruins and vaults of artifacts collectibles and stories of the end that 3 billion people was left to die, deep caves where you find machines or bodies all mummified 😔 breaks my heart to see earth and it should be shown in the game more ! Love my earth base

My only question is why Bethesda picked landmarks that wouldn't survive except the Pyramids. The Hoover dam would stand a better chance of surviving than any building, or other short stout buildings like bunkers or other solid stone structurers.
