Dawn makes a great point "when u dont comply and standup for what u believe in you are now considered "ths problem". Between 1990 and 1993 from Born To Sing To Funky Divas they were the biggest group around. You would think they were making money when in reality they were not. Its hard because people look at her a "problem". I like how she shouts out left eye from TLC.

If you look at Dawns eyes, when she is telling the story of the first time she heard there song, which has to be HOLD ON, on the radio, the looks of her eyes, when she says OH MY GOD, tells me, she still remembers that point in time, her eye expression says it all, THERE NEEDS TO BE AN EN VOGUE MOVIE.

I had the pleasure of singing with her & Maxine in 2014 for their background in concert Oakland & Richmond cali... so many misconceptions about her from others. Both she & Maxine were total sweethearts & passionate about the music. Totally awesome artists, totally beautiful, graceful & talented women. 100! God bless em. Hope I get to sing with them again sometime.
@camillecotton72838 жыл бұрын
Music_360 thanx for your input. I sang with them twice (Richmond & Oakland) & both times Dawn was kind & professional towards ME anyway. I can't defend her character outside of anything other than what I witnessed 1st hand. I was simply giving positive feedback where positive feedback was due :-) I did get paid & I'm sorry you're experiences with her were more negative than good. I just know in this cold world if "I" were only remembered & spoken of for the BAD things I've done or had trouble with while everyone forgot about the good...that'd be the REAL failure. Sending good vibes your way ;-) Keep making music!! GOD BLESS!

I know Dawn Personally, and She is A True Women!! She is the only one to stand up for what she and the others Deserve!! They work their behinds off Performing and not having A Life outside of Singing and that's not Right!! With what they do that sooo many Love to Hear, They Deserve To Live Happy and Not Have To Worry When There Next Dollar Will Come In! Dawn and the others Deserve to be Paid what there're Worth and not just get a couple cents in the Leftovers after all others who don't do the Hard (yet fun for the girls) Work GET!! Dawn Loves to sing but, why should she and the others WORK ONLY to Support the Managers and \Whoever? If En Vogue didn't Perform, No one would get any Money! I think The Singers should Get Money from the Top, then Go down the Line of Who did what to get them Shows to Perform. .All in All The Majority of The Music Industury Is GREEDY!! 20+ Years and All That En Vogue Has Givein Us With Their Voices and Beauity and Made Us Smile, Yet They Have Nothing To Show For All They've Done! God Bless Dawn, Maxine, Cindy and Terry! All 4 of The Girls Will Go Down in The History of Music as The Best Female Performers EVER!!

The records houses/companies deduct for writers, producers, lawyers, musicians, composers, arrangers, record/cd mass produce and distribution, concert and stage building, managers and so forth. Then, there is also what kind of deal, record house, managers, and "owners of the group" per say. That is how we see other artists making a whole lot more money. Same stuff with TLC, and Toni Braxton. I'm sure modern artists will not take 2 cents a record!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@teresworrell79738 жыл бұрын
***** I mean I had a idea how it happens but you would think the group had more common sense than allow it to happen. That was my point.

Signing complicated contracts, not understanding the language, they’re not written for regular folks to understand
@youtubesecurity79924 жыл бұрын
1.) The contracts are filled up with Ancient Greek and Latin loanwords; full of juridical terms that normally only ppl underatand who studied and come from the _'academy corner'._ Contracts are written in the academy/elite language. Regular folks won't really understand what the contract is saying; as their linguistical skills aren't on an academy/elite level. You learn all these terms when you want to become a lawyer, etc., not when you want to become a singer. Dawn pointed out in another interview that she did not really understand the contract. 2.) However; songwriters, makeup artists, stylists, producers (and a lot more) also need to be paid as they don't work for free. Producers are the ones that got way more money than the singer(s). That's the pattern in every industry, not just entertaiment (pyramide). The few ppl at the top (which ain't the musicians btw) always earn the most coins. Eventhough they do not have the talent for singing, acting and/or dancing - they have other talents and lead the industry. Ppl with a special talent for money; they know how they can get money out of the artistic talents of others, know what the audience/masses prefer and they will find a product (cf. auditions; like En Vogue started) and introduce and sell the product to masses. They know how to sell their product (the musicians and their music). It's like owning a shop; you have to show your products from the best perspective and even if it ain't that good - you have to cheat and make it at least seem better. Owning a shop and being brutally honest will make you go broke af. Ppl laugh about Diddy, but he was more than smart and simply had seen his chances to make more out of his name and fame. I remember him as the first rapper to come up with his clothing line, alcohol and co. Today it's "normal" that musicians come up with parfumes, clothing lines, make up products, etc. But that's how you earn way more money and most musicians are here for the fame and money. The ones that dedicate their lives to music are independent and refuse to be bought by the music industry. 3.) You can be an independent musician - but this will not really pay out better; financal wise. The music industry is automatically liked to radio, TV, Media in general and they give independent artists a very hard time. It's all about the money at the end.
