I purchased a retired broodmare from a breeder in Oct 2023, she stated she hadn't been with a stud at all. Mid march rolled around and she started bagging up. Turns out their stud HAD gotten into the pasture with the mares but 'she thought he didnt get anybody'..... So yup, I got a free foal out of the deal. However, i felt bad cause she was on the thin side all winter and I couldn't figure out why! Turns out...she was growing a baby. My advice, never take anybody at their word. Do your own blood draws or ultrasounds to confirm for yourself!!!
