Vietnam was in a constant state of conflict from before I was born to a time I was grown and had children. Seeing it now is a tribute to human’s remarkable ability to recover and rebuild.

I agree, it is pretty remarkable. And I get the feeling they're going to rapidly move forward over the next 5 to 10 years.

Mate turn the camera around and show us whats in front etc, people tend to switch off if the camera is on someones mug all the time. Just trying to increase views etc. Its a learning curve.

Informative video Brenden. Did you film it with DJI Osmo 3? I have the same camera.
@BrendenSharp23 күн бұрын
Hey there thanks for watching and leaving a comment here as I do appreciate it. You're right I'm using the DJI osmo pocket 3 it's a great camera. I had the original osmo pocket 1 way back whenever it was released but this one's much better especially at night time.

Have you been to Vung Tau? It’s a beach town where expat retirees are. It’s a closest beach town to Saigon.
@BrendenSharp17 күн бұрын
No I regret not going to Vung Tau. My brother used to actually work there and he suggested that I should go there but I haven't been yet.

I always use Grab bikes when in Saigon. So cheap and convenient. Never had a prang as a passenger but would advise you to pay a supplament with your travel insurance to cover yourself in case of an accident.

Hey Doug, do you mind me asking how old you are? I think I would have been a lot keener in my younger days but I'm less confident now just about to turn 62.

@dougm3037 I'm sure you're going to love it mate. I've been planning to get to Da Nang for a while but the weather was so bad in Da Nang when I was in Ho Chi Minh that I changed my plans.

I'll be returning to Vietnam next year, having only visited for 10 days in 2018. I'm sure a lot has changed but I can't wait to get back and visit this unique culture before it eventually becomes more gentrified like Thailand. Don't get me wrong I still love Thailand, but it's lost some of its charm IMHO.

Hey Roy thanks for watching and leaving a comment here as I do appreciate it. I love Ho Chi Minh city. I spent a month in Jomtien at the start of last year and really enjoyed that but Ho Chi Minh is a totally different place.

Hi Brenden, Im a 65 year old planning a trip there in March,. How do you rate the food safety and any tips on it. Its my only concern about Vietnam. Are you planning to go North?
@BrendenSharp22 күн бұрын
Hey there thanks for watching and leaving a comment here as I do appreciate it. The first point about food, I think the food is very good and you can choose to eat whatever you like. There's lots of western type restaurants so you can eat that food or if you want to eat the more local food you can do that. I was planning to go north for another two or three weeks but the weather up north at the moment is been really bad. I was hoping to spend a few weeks in Da Nang but it's been raining every single day in Da Nang so I cancelled that trip and may have to try to go in the near future. The other place I was planning to go to is Ha Long Bay but the temperature is a little bit too cold up there at the moment. Good luck with your future trip and I'm sure you're going to love it.

Any tips if you're not travelling on the cheap.
@BrendenSharp24 күн бұрын
I think everything is exactly the same The only difference is maybe you stay in much nicer places and maybe you eat in more expensive restaurants but apart from that I think everything stays the same. You can choose to spend as much or as little as you could like.

Would you say Vietnam is your favorite country that you’ve visited? If not, what would be your top 3 favorite countries you’ve traveled to?
@BrendenSharp21 күн бұрын
I spent a few weeks in the Philippines at the start of 2023, then a month in Thailand at the start of 2024, and now Vietnam this time. I liked Thailand and Vietnam much more than the Philippines, as their overall infrastructure is not as developed as that of Thailand and Vietnam.

I've been very impressed with the women over here. They look like they really take care of themselves and there's a lot less obesity over here than back in the West. I'm pretty sure Vietnam is in the top two or three least obese countries in the world.
