Sometimes you've got to be prepared to play the fool, whether that's getting that knot wrong, capsizing that kayak so you're the first one in the water (no help needed on that one for me), or learning about Minecraft for the 3rd time this meeting. Or getting told off by a Beaver because you've lost your woggle after it's taken you hours and two cups of coffee to tie that friendship knot

You are so right. I've been all those things but the most difficult roll I have had to do was councilor. I had a Cub that was the most happy-go-lucky person I knew except 1 meeting. We were playing dodge ball and he got out. Normally he would go off to the side and cheer on his side till he could get back in the game. This night he sat down and the waterfall opened up.i took him out into the hall (pre 2-deep rule but other leaders poked their heads out the door to check on us) and we sat and talked. He was being bullied at school and eventually it came out that this 9-year old had been contemplating suicide. As part of the conversation, I explained that I would have to talk to his parents about this and he was ok with that. After a long talk, we went back into the meeting and continued with the evening. I talked to his parents. They were aware of the situation and he was seeing a counselor. I assured them and him that we could talk any time.
