It's curious how Perez has gone backwards so badly from the start of 2023. His first five races then were 2nd, 1st, 5th, 1st, 2nd. Not all bad and only just behind Max in the points. I suspect there are three reasons for this collapse: 1) A car which will be more and more suited to Max. It's a point I recall Jonathan Palmer make at a track day when discussing the problems of being Schumacher's team mate. Their techniques are quite different. 2) It being made abundantly clear that his role in the team is be Max' sidekick and punching bag. 3) An atmosphere of total hatred and hostility between the different parts of Red Bull. Anyone coming in will face the same toxic cocktail, good luck to them. Perez has been by far the best No 2 driver RB have had since Riccardo, who fled pretty quickly rather than hang around with the Verstappens.

Has anyone considered the car is so totally designed for Max's on the nose style that few may be able to drive it? I think they chose to go with the devil they know. They could bring another driver in and get worse results because of the difficulty.

Checo is now driving to take the lead role in this year’s Netflix Drive to Survive. He is now racing with the also-rans who are the stars of the show. His $35m crash and write off of his car at Monaco was the end! Finishing in 8th place is the best he has to offer for a few races now. He battles to even make Q3. He should be replaced now!

If they're in such the position as to be dammed if you do / don't either keep him or sweep him (Checo), take a gamble in rounds 13 + 14 Hungarian & Belgium double header by swapping seats with either Ricciardo or Yuki which has varied potential positives ? They could literally test Ricciardo along side Max whilst also gauge Yuki & Checo head to head or give Yuki the promotion and winner takes all Checo vs Ricciardo V-carb 2 race shoot out?
