Very good diet. It’s very good that you eat 3-4k calories per day cos i always see runners eat like 2.5k and it doesn’t seem like it’s enough

It is so important in a diet to have “fun” food too! Everyone needs that because eating should be pleasurable at the same time as providing proper nutrition and calories. Everything in moderation! Nice work, Spencer!! I’m curious how Allie feels about counting the calories etc? Is it triggering at all?? And for someone as active as you, I would still say 3200-3400 cals a day would be the bare minimum and you could easily benefit from 4000…

I'm just guessing that a person or two (who from the accurate terminology used by Allie)...food shames for eating an ice cream bar.... they might not be running 60-75 miles per week and doing other workouts? Even Jakob Ingebrigtsen has posted pics of eating ice cream. That must be holding him back, as the poor fella can't even break 3:43 for the mile.......yet!

Really enjoyed this one. Your diet has very good balance to it...lots of clean/low ingredient foods, vegetables, and still having treats here and there. Nothing wrong with that at all! Also nice to see the general not taking it too serious attitude towards food (at least portrayed that way on the vid). That is definitely my downfall...

Thanx for sharing this. Do you have a protein shake after each tough running workout? What should i look for when buying protein powder? I avoided this protein business and having cottage cheese after the hard workouts but I'm seeing that all good athletes have protein shakes and not cottage cheese :) Thanx again!

I think the biggest takeaway from this is the majority of other runners are not eating enough by a long way! If a mid distance runner eats 3-4k calories a day and maintains weight, all these distance runners need to take a leaf out of Spencer’s book!

I've never understood why eating "clean" is better than eating some junk assuming you're still getting the micronutrients and fiber you need and assuming you need the calories.
@tristanliggett4088 Жыл бұрын
It’s not necessarily better if you are getting the micronutrients and macronutrients you need. However, that is a big if. Spencer is definitely getting more vitamins and necessary minerals/nutrients than before with a “cleaner” diet. It’s very difficult to get the right amount of micronutrients especially when eating lots of processed food
@gilliesuarez Жыл бұрын
It's not only the macros that are important. Micronutrients are vital for countless things like the immune system, nervous system function,proper utilization and digestion of macros as well as so many more. You can fill your car with gasoline, but without oil, coolant and transmission fluid, it will never run quite as well, and will ultimately probably get damaged.
@ssppo4703 Жыл бұрын
@@gilliesuarez But does an athlete's micronutrient requirement scale up with macronutrient/calorie requirements? Can you just eat clean to the point that you get all the micronutrients you need and then fill the rest of the calories with junk food?
@paxundpeace9970 Жыл бұрын
Junk is getting you the fibre that is in fruit and vegetables. Those dishes had plenty of calories that's true had he is running 70 miles a week.
@paxundpeace9970 Жыл бұрын
The kind of macros mater too. Whole grain pasta is better then normal it is more filling same with bread. About protein so many different kinds of Protein. Watch Protein is not Protein well explained.
