Nice video. BTW, an F350 crew longbox gooseneck GCWR is 30,500lb when you get a 2wd dually, which I have. Towing capacity is 22,600lb and my 16ft gooseneck dump trailer is 6klb, so payload is 16,600lb or eight tons. I have 24in sidewalls for the same reason as you and could have used a 14ft box if I only hauled rock, but I needed another 2ft to fit equipment.

Definitely some good points in your video! Sure do see plenty of people that don't respect the limits of their equipment. Case in point. I saw this just this week, Monday I believe. On the side of interstate 71 between Ashland and Cleveland. A Chevy dually was pulled over along the highway. He was towing an enclosed trailer. Probably a 16 or 18 footer. The back door on his trailer was mangled up. Like the load inside shifted and smashed the door. And the load? A compact track loader! Yup. He had a tracked skid steer in that trailer. Now I have an appreciation for equipment. Those track loaders are always an interest of mine. From the specs on the few different ones I have looked at their weights have been between 9k and 12k pounds. Well, enclosed trailers are simply not intended to haul that heavy of a load! Not only was the door smashed on his trailer but so was at least one of the axles. Like destroyed smashed. So here this guy was with a busted to pieces loaded trailer sitting on the side of a 70mph freeway. The dude is darn lucky he didn't cause an accident and kill someone when his trailer broke like that. Especially with it being severely overloaded. People end up in prison for manslaughter pulling stunts like that when it gets someone killed. Weight ratings are important. Law enforcement will definitely bring it to light when there is an accident.

Not sure how I missed this comment but that is crazy! People don't understand having the right trailer.fornthe job is just as important as having the right tow vehicle. I wish I had a track loader! Last week on rt 20 near toledo I saw a landscape crew with a 3/4 ton Chevy pulling a 20 to 25 ft gooseneck with their mowers on it. The problem was the gooseneck trailer wasn't connect in the bed. They had the trailer hooked to the ball on the bumper. I bet that was fun to turn. The stuff you see on the highways. Thanks for watching!

Most people don't realize the F250 and the F350 use the same brakes. The F350 has more leaf springs which gives it a higher payload, but the GCVW is limited by the brakes.

Talk to that guy who milled your top rails and you might find a very mutually beneficial solution to this high lumber price manipulation problem. I don’t know if it matters for the structure your going to build, but lumber grading (to meet building code and insurance Co. requirements) is how the lumber cartels have the stranglehold they have now. The big five publicly traded lumber producers are reporting massive profit (300%) increases. Those profits are a result of historically low timber prices and 200-300% increased lumber prices, go figure. Good job speaking the truth on vehicle and trailer limits and capacities, so many overload it like crazy.

Tongue weight that's put on your truck if it's say a thousand pounds does that mean you could all that much more on your trailer because that is transferred to truck. This is where i get confused thx
@PheasantLaneFarm Жыл бұрын
That would fall into the combined gross vehicle weight rating I do believe. On a bumper pull it doesn't mean you can add more weight. Some say you can overload a gooseneck trailer by a certain percentage, but then you would be overloading the rear axle on the truck in most cases.
@LeatherHeadGarage3 жыл бұрын
You only need a CDL over 26,001 lbs GCVW if you are hauling commercially. If you are hauling for not for profit just personally you do not need CDL
@PheasantLaneFarm3 жыл бұрын
True to a point. But if I'm hauling for somone else technically its.for profit. The laws seem to depend on which officers want to enforce them on what days.
@briangc19722 жыл бұрын
That depends in which state you live. Some states do require a CDL even for private use. ie. Texas requires a CDL for motorhome RVs with air brakes while Arizona and most others do not.
@IYar562 ай бұрын

The reason those loads are so small is that you were given too much of the fines. Always buy screened rock. It usually costs a dollar or two more per ton, but they screen out all the fines and you get 5 tons of real rock instead of a ton of rock and 4 tons of fine material (dust and sand sized particles)
@PheasantLaneFarm2 жыл бұрын
I can get screened rock, here they call it washed rock. Only issue is that it doesn't pack as well. Some projects we use this, some times we used the washed stone. All depends.
@briangc19722 жыл бұрын
@@PheasantLaneFarm The correct way is to use the washed rock for the base layer and for the final layer (top layer) use the rock with fines (We call it 1/2 minus or 3/4 minus) to pack and lock the loose stones. You will get better coverage and the final product is more resistant to washing when it rains. Too many fines will wash away. The larger rock interlock and keep the fines from washing out.
