You can tell Doug never wears a hat because at the end of the video it looks like he adjusts a hat to the biggest possible then puts it on.

In my youth, I read every article that I could find on exotic/muscle/collector cars. Really focusing on the tech of them. I knew that I couldn't afford to do these things on that many cars under my own finances. So... I became an automotive technician because of my "love" of working with my hands. Hobby versus career kicked my butt, broke my back, destroyed my knees and absolutely killed my love of cars. I worked on some wonderful cars. Factory MG TC race car that I couldn't fit into, oldest car was a 1937 Rolls, most expensive a Ferrari Daytona Spyder. No fame, no fortune, no glory. Knowing what I know now, I should have gone into accounting.

I have a high level of respect for anyone who spends a career wrenching on cars- you keep the hobby alive for the rest of us who are not as talented. Thank you for your sacrifice. You also make a great point - the "follow your passion" advice is not so great. Sometimes it's good to just get a job that pays well and keep your passions on the side. Thankfully I've been able to strike a decent balance over the years and I still love cars.

I say this to myself every day at work. I should've gone into finances.

Im not sure why but I like hearing that even the expensive cars have the same problems as the common used car lot. It would seem the level of income would negate alot of the issues, but it doesn't become its still people. 😂

In the service part of the car industry the day to dread is Monday. Everyone breaks it over the weekend....

Just so you know, we still don’t like used car salesmen. But you are an exception.

AYOOOOO!!! Another banger. I think posting the "how not to become a scammer" would do well on here. That was a great take by Doug.

Thanks for the truth-telling about how a passion might not equal a living. Many people are in that boat.

That remote sale from Mexico for that Ferrari Ford Probe...uh, I mean 456 sounds like a great deal.

When I'm selling a Wheeler Dealer car and the guy absolutely positively wants to buy it, but says "I have to check w/ my wife", I put the For Sale sign back in. They're not coming back.

I didn't think it was legal in Ohio to sell cars on Consignment?
@switchcars10 күн бұрын
Neither did the dmv. That's a long story, but we, and other dealers, pushed back and determined that our interpretation of how the law is written makes it fully legal. What is not legal is to sell a car without providing a title. Which should go without saying.

@@switchcars 1 Million dollar Floorplans are a bad temptation. Kind of like a Casino Next door for a gambling junkie. I'm a licensed dealer in Texas and even though my knowledge is vast, my overall success is minimal.
