I have had my first pair for about 2 1/2 years and really like them. They fell off my head at Oshkosh last year and I had a small scratch right in the middle of the lens, very annoying. I took them to the Flying Eyes booth at Sun and Fun this year and they replaced my lens as a courtesy. Keep in mind, my year warranty on lens replacement had long expired but they stepped up anyway. I bought another pair of clear lens (bifocal) for night flying. Super sunglasses and great people!

I can testify to the warranty offered! My clip ons were detached due to a plane doing a run up while we were all at the rear some ways away! They didn't actually get scratched but Dean the owner read my story offered to replace them! Outstanding!

I had magnetic clip on’s on a pair of old glasses years ago, not this brand. I would scratch my face or something . They would pop right off. How well are the magnets and how well do they stay attached?
@flywiththeguys2 жыл бұрын
I've had them pop off a few times, like if something bumps my glasses, but not if I scratch my face or something. My son lost his set (not flying eyes) at the beach. The magnets were fairly weak on them too so it wasn't too surprising.

Are your the Luzon frame? I am looking at getting flying eyes but torn between the clip on or just getting the script tinted kestrel aviators
@flywiththeguys Жыл бұрын
Yes, and retrospect I love the clip ons. I have a few of them and have one in the car and in the plane. BUT, if I was going after it again I may just get prescription sunglasses.
@seancrombie458 Жыл бұрын
@flywiththeguys good to know, I really like the kestrel but have a clip on try-on kit on the way so I will see how they fit for daily drivers and go from there. I like the idea of the flexibility to just pop the sunglasses off in flight if needed without having to fumble with changing glasses. Do you see that as a benefit with yours or not a common occurrence?
@flywiththeguys Жыл бұрын
@@seancrombie458 I live in the valley of the sun. So.... I usually don't take them off once they're on. Could see it happening in IMC or twilight flying. But its a huge benefit for when I forget to take them off and go into a store. =)

Do you need or not need Polarized lenses for flying?
@flywiththeguys2 жыл бұрын
They're not good in a glass cockpit. Polarized lenses and screens don't mix well and can keep you from seeing important information you need. I have a feeling that as cars get more and more LCD screens we'll start to see a movement away from polarized lenses all together.

So those are type of sunglasses pilots have to put on during a sunny day I had no idea
@flywiththeguys2 жыл бұрын
You can wear others. For me it's a real game changer because I cant wear contacts. I have to have glasses. Most perscription glasses had all the problems we talked about.
@moviewatcher12392 жыл бұрын
@@flywiththeguys I can see why
@Mooney201er2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the info. Looks like the root problem is your headset and not the glasses then. Those 50 year old design head squeezing headsets are the thing to change and not the glasses. More modern in-the-ear headsets are so much lighter and more comfortable. Not to mention, you can wear glasses, hat, and oxygen and not even mess up your hair. Sunglasses don't solve all those other problems, but a Halo headset does.
@flywiththeguys2 жыл бұрын
Not going to disagree one bit! For me though, I have a problem with in ear stuff. I’ll get swimmers ear shortly after. Don’t know why, so I stick with over the ear stuff.

@@Mooney201er LOL. I actually did over a years worth of flying on the Bose Proflight before I started having this ear problem. It's the pressure the buds put on my ear canal to make a good seal.

I would love to get a pair! Except I'm too poor. Maybe in the future I will be able to cover the cost of them but for right now I can't afford to spend 200 dollars for anything but flying. Love the review though and I might snag a pair when I'm not broke to death. Quick question: I have been looking at cameras and I've been looking at the GoPro hero 7 to film. But I am having troubles with how I'm going to mount it. On one hand the ceiling mount is a good choice but it's very expensive. If I use a headstrap, I can still see everything and it looks cool as a bonus. So what should I do? And is there a cheaper camera that won't "jello"?
@flywiththeguys2 жыл бұрын
If you're not mounting it to anything in the plane, almost any camera will work. It's the vibrations of the engine and flight that create the jello. A 5 would work in that situation. BUT, I would seriously consider the 7 and mounting it overhead. Mostly because of the recording quality and it'll catch everything you're doing. On your head it'll miss a lot.
@UrPilotNatt2 жыл бұрын
@@flywiththeguys I have done a little research and found it to be cheaper for the GoPro hero 7 than the 5 probably because they don't make the 5s maybe? But I think I will start off with a head strap and audio cable and upgrade to a mount. Thanks for your help!
