But a generational gap exists nonetheless, as outlined in the video. It is true that students are displaying more morality and courage. It also has to do with the echo-chamber one is accustomed to. Assuming that many in the older generation are more Right wing, they are lost in that echo-chamber regarding any truth on this issue. Students are also in a better position to protest because less personal risk is assumed. They're not employed and don't have a job to lose.

My father was Irish-German American and what you'd call a liberal zionist (although he never called himself that), but in the late 90s after Bibi came to power especially, he began to notice the difference in tone and rhetoric in the mailings he was getting from all the zionist groups that he donated money to; it became more overtly chauvinistic and contemptuous of the Palestinians and began to speak less and less to non-Jews; the mask began to slip and I know it was troubling him. But he left this world before the 2nd Intifada and hasn't seen all that's happened.... sometimes I'm glad, because it would have broken his heart and shattered him to think that he was deceived into supporting the things that he had always taught me to oppose and to stay vigilant for from a young age. At least God spared him that. He was a good man; a very good man...and when I think about the way that his best virtues and moral impulses were hacked and exploited so cynically... there aren't words for the disgust I feel.

I am am old geezer, but don't think the gap is all that great. Older citizens have been fed propoganda for so long it takes a little time to make a mental adjustment. I think the majority of politicians seems to be harder to change. The next federal election will be a indicator.

It's not an issue of age; it's a matter of paying attention, being aware, and knowing propaganda for what it is. In an age when we have access to facts in a way we have not had before (e.g., peaceful students getting brutalized by the imperial stormtroopers for saying 'no' to genocide), 'older' people do not have the excuse of 'not knowing' -- they could if they cared enough.

Nobody was comparing/contrasting Palestinians dancing in the streets to U.S. student activists protesting Vietnam. Most students in the U.S. weren't celebrating 9/11, as most students are against the war now. I know, because I was in my 20s in 2001. Additionally, the common phrases "Listen to the Youth" or "Children are our future" don't mean listen to every single youth, or every group of youths. It means listen to "The Youth" when based on data (explained in this video and others) they're agreeing in their communies to ask for something that affects their collective futures, such as stopping war.

After months of listening to Biden's rhetoric and knowing how antagonistic the Republican Party is to grass root movements supporting political change, I am not even slightly surprised at their unified response to the student protests. I agree with the comment that they are listening to AIPAC, although it should also be clear by now that Biden thinks he is the smartest person in the room, and his misperception of himself is exacerbating the situation. It's money and ego that are effectively driving the US complicity in war crimes. It's a tragedy on a horrific scale.
