Love watching a 25 minute video on a board setup. I run 8.5 decks usually with Indy TI 149's and Bones Hards, tight as well. What a trip. Crazy thing is my current setup is a 8.5" Cole Plan B P2 deck I had sitting and this video came out...I love it. Good to see him on here. Dude rips and is a legend!

About the spacers. 100% put them in. They're a pain to get them to work properly but it's so worth it. They need to be very slightly wider than the wheel core, if not use a very thin speed washer to widen them inside the wheel. Tighten the wheel nut snug all the way down, hand tight but don't go crazy as you will deform the bearing race and they'll slow and click and pop. This is why it's so worth it. Because the assembly is now a solid unit your truck axle is now around 12mm thick as apposed to being 8mm. You're much less likely bend an axle now. The bearings will be held in perfect alignment and last forever and roll free and faster due to zero side loading slowing them down. No more axle slip ever!!! The only negative is your board will sound different. Like mutated and quiet and very smooth but after a few weeks I got used to it. The wheel should still spin just as free as when the nut is loose. You will have a faster, more efficient board.
@13bro45
@13bro45 Жыл бұрын
Skating is a lot about the feedback you get from the board. Half the pleasure in riding is hearing the acoustics of a skateboard. Absolutely savage wheel screech from a fat powerslide or a tail slide on transition is something i cant ever give up. If it means i need bearings every 3 months or so then so be it. Even the sound of popping the board up into your hand and throwing down.

Another fix for if you have squeaky trucks is to just take them apart and cover each piece in a little bit of wax at the contact points. So pivot cup, and each bushing and where they touch the truck.

Did Daewon do one of these? Would love to see these dudes freaking out at his trucks set up (he skates no bushing, right?) I think he skates grindkings though, too right? I had some GK's once, but only bought them because they had a leopard print base, and I thought it looked really cool on a set up I had back then. Everyone I knew in my city though, would freak out about the Grind Kings, and said they're dangerous and stuff, so I never bought another set.

Another small fact you can take graphite dust and lubricate your bearings with it. Also you can clean your bearings with carburetor cleaner, you can also balance your deck with lead tape with your board balanced on the tip of a nail, yes I do all of this .no I'm not mad. Been skating for 23 years

I can totally feel the difference on the spacer tho.. it keeps the bearings locked so you can powerslide. they'll wobble around in there without it and you'll get a really weird lean like if your tie rod blows out on a car.

Really good episode, guys. Very informative. Two very quick things. One: I believe in spacers and always have. Two: it’s a fine solution but instead of taking my trucks apart to sprinkle graphite powder in my pivot cup I spray WD-40, another lock lubrication product, in the pivot cup
@mr.neqtan

Wd-40 is not a good product for plastics. Spray silicone lubricant would be optimal. Have to clean up any excess for sake of debris collecting.

Ive heard of alot of things tbh, ive never heard graphite tho this is ltierally the first time ive heard anyone say that lmao. The tight truck theory makes me think of a couple of my buddies that have been in car accident. They were drunk, didn't tense up when crashing, no injuries. They flopped and didn't try and hold on. You get less hurt in a car accident if youre drunk bc of this reason. Tight trucks prove the same thing. I can dig it cole!

My conical fulls (52mm, 99A) have lost a millimetre a month so far. Mainly due to only skating street at the moment and a pretty rough flat ground spot. When I was always skating at a park they would last way longer. 🕺🏻 Still my favourite wheel tho!

Skated regular spitfire 52s years ago and they were shit. Wore down too easily. I recently got some formula fours and they’re really good
