What Fanuc Controllers do you run? I would love to learn about the older ones because you are right there is nothing online about them

The two we use have Oi-TD and OiTF They’re basically identical from what I can tell. We just chose Fanuc because it’s really reliable and easy to use. And most machines come with it as a standard option. We previous had Anilam & Fagor machines… and I couldn’t sell them fast enough. Big fan of FANUC. Will be posting a few simple tutorials in the future. Mostly stuff I wished I could have found online when I started.

Good to see the channel growing so quickly. Try not to focus on what people ask to see in a video. 3 or 4 comments on a topic doesn't really make it a channel for everyone to enjoy. Just post what You enjoy to show. You seem to have a good recipe at the moment keep it fun as you already mentioned and you will soon know what sells and what doesn't 👍

If we do a euro trip, I guarantee you I’ll take you up on that offer my friend. It’s on the cards. Euro trip one holiday break USA the next. Japan after that. I really want to see how different countries approach things. I find that each culture is just a little different in their approach, and it’s really refreshing

@@halheavyduty yes, that is true. But I lived in the US for a year, so maybe my approaches are similar 😅 And in the end all that matters is to get the job done, the gear running again. At least in my shop as i only do repairwork, but it looks the same what you do, manufacturing broken parts new, to get them drill rigs back drilling. Yes sure, anytime, my shop is 15min from munich airport, no problem if you want to come by for a visit and a talk 😎 There are so many great places in the EU to visit, that it would take several visits to see them all 😜 but to see some places in Italy, Spain, France and Germany makes for a long enough trip with many nice places, to hang out and chill or to see some amazing stuff (like the blood lake on the island of Elba, Italy or the Technical museum in Sinsheim, Germany). G'day again Matt, I'm semi retired. However I still love to see what "small" shops do on a daily basis to keep industry going. Things to maybe show would be a quick shop tour so people get an idea of your capability. In my opinion don't become a slave to the vidios. Not sure how much CAM you do vs conversational but at least for mills I like having a computer at every machine. $500 off lease refurbished desktops are great. Even if you dont run cam software, looking at drawings, drip feeding, basic CAD to check dimensions, googling stuff like mfg data. Faster than using a phone or walking to the office. Maybe weld up some brackets to mount the computer and monitor to your tool carts.

We use a lot of the Fanuc conversational - mostly because of how simple our parts are. That said, we are just starting to use the CAM software that came with the Alpha lathes. For complicated one off parts, it’s excellent. Big time saver. We are getting a laptop for each CNC to help speed up production.

Oh nice. Kurtis seems like a great bloke. I’ve spoken to him on the phone to get advice on removing induction hardened chrome. He was super helpful. I actually met his wife Karen before they started the channel funnily enough. Small world hey. They’ve really nailed it with their channel. It’s great to watch.

Your parts may be too big but I am interested in a multiple tool (gang tool) setup. My lathe has a just over 400mm “swing”. Your tool organizer is great as is your presentation. Congratulations!

Yes I'd like to know more of Fanuc 21-t controller I have a big Hardinge cobra 65 lathe I can't get it to work I'm thinking of retrofit it with centroid or Fanuc it's just so expensive

I’m no expert on retrofitting lathes, but I have a few friends who have used GSK controllers with good results. Apparently (please don’t hold me to it) it’s the affordable Chinese version of Fanuc. I personally haven’t done it or used them, but if i was going to retrofit a lathe I’d inquire about it. Much, MUCH more cost effective and a really good controller from what I have heard. If anyone else reads this and has experience, feel free to chime in.

I'm 37 Years old, have always tinkered and made my own tooling from scrap etc. always wanted to be an engineer but unfortunately had my dream snatched recently after a bad manager over promised and under delivered on a job offer and ruined an otherwise stellar career. Is it too late for me?

Bro, I didn’t actually start until I was 39. I had grown up around it, but didn’t start until I was older than you. If you’re really interested and passionate about something, you’re 10x ahead of people who are just rocking up for a job. My background had absolutely nothing to do with this profession… So short answer… go for it. Hal himself (grandad) didn’t take up machining until he was 60!

I did GNVQ Engineering in school and loved it so i'm looking around for a lathe to get me started and i will teach myself via youtube and building the Hemingwell tooling kits like the machinist hammer etc. So how did you start at 39? What made you think "You know what? I'm going to change my career". Maybe that's a whole videos worth of information, I'd love to see that content on your channel. Thanks again :)

A few things I can think of right off is to make friends with Paul Akers and also John at NYC CNC and also the John Grimsmo at Grimsmo Knives if you want heaps of knowlege about organization. A lot of their early videos on KZbin have great ideas for shop organization. They were the people that helped me out the most.
