Hearing the respect DLO has for Lebron & AD and seeing already how well they play together, I think we may get the best version of DLO. He can settle into the #3 guy while playing next to 2 alphas who enhance his strengths. Crazy, I was so happy to see him go before and now so stoked he's back. Great job bros! Thanks for all the coverage.

I absolutely love when you guys do these, it is so unique and rare to get the full on honest opinion of the team that just traded the player you got and how they feel about them, especially when we are talking about getting multiple guys from the same team. You can get the perspective on how they work together. Great to know whether we are just crazy or we actually got some very unrealized talent. This is prime content. Keep this going guys. Great work.

One thing I was interested to hear, and which I think we've already seen some of, is that Vando doesn't have good hands. I was hoping it was just a momentary lapse, but it sounds like that's a thing with him. And, of course, that defenders completely abandon him when he's out beyond the 3 point line, which we've also seen already. But what amazing energy, and he's been great defensively when not guarding players named Brandon Ingram.

Very interesting conversation with Ben....The guy came prepared to provide insights- I like that like many of your guests ala Nuggets insider(last yr), Clippers guy earlier this season.... 3 good things I heard 1. DLo's basketball IQ and fit with current Laker roster 2. Beasley the marksmen, athleticism and transition play 3. Vando's energy at both ends of the floor and defending large wings, athletic 4s... The worrisome aspects: 1. DLo's inconsistent energy and focus and playing for a contract 2. Beasley's 1D skill...will be exposed in playoffs esp on D 3. Vando's very limited skills on O..esp. shooting will affect spacing...but I like him...there are many such players that have thrived with Lebron and AD... But all in all they improve Lakers roster tremendously no doubt. Lakers are talentwise now, middle of the pack in West....let's see where it takes them this season and hopefully answer what we need to do in off-season.

thats why if you start with dlo and malik, you should start vando with ad. it covers issues of the backcourt. the starting 5 in the pels game is the perfect 5 to start because of the possibility of a hot start with good paint defense and adjust mid to late game if needed.

I think what Ben missed on explaining why DLo has "low-lows" is because of the system Finch is trying to implement, finch doesn't even tried to utilize him properly on his system and to DLo's credit he adapted to that role. If you're a coach you need to know the strengths/weaknesses of your player and dlo's strength is obviously PNR, and Finch barely run set plays specifically for DLo. Also, DLo late game heroics made them win a ton of games throughout his stint there. Other than this Ben is spot on. I subscribed to locked on wolves because this guy really explain things clearly and almost always spot on. 👌
@akaspon1
@akaspon1 Жыл бұрын
Excellent point that I think gets missed. Some examples: Finch does not like PnR while having a top 10 PnR guard on your team. They rarely ran plays for him, especially last year. This year they were having him play off ball more and good passers found him more hence his crazy numbers lately. They made him concede his own strengths to build up Ant, which is cool, but kinda hard to adjust for an 8 year veteran who can score and is also known for his clutch play. They want to be a fast pace team, and despite that not being a positive for the team (turnovers, bad transition defense, horrible finishers) which is not D-Lo's strength. If you watch that playoff series against Memphis, there was a reason they keyed on stopped D-Lo instead of Ant and you se the results. Ant scores great, D-Lo struggles because the coach did not adjust to help his game, and they lose. Not saying he isn't culpable for his faults, but a coach that almost coaches against him made things look bad and inconsistent for him IMO.

@@mikeyvaz2325 Our playoffs near enough start right after the Allstar break. We have 1/4 of the season to get this team into shape. That’s gonna take a lot of focus and a lot of effort, off basically 2 weeks team chemistry. We have no identity. I think we’ll end up playoffs but I question if we’ll have enough left in the tank when we get there. You’ve never seen a championship won off a roster overhaul - There’s a reason for that. It’s not that I don’t think we’re good enough, it’s just the odds are stacked against us. Of course if we can go on a big winning streak to close out the season I’ll change my tone. But I think realistically I think we’ll be battling to the very end.

Feels like the 2020 lakers Rondo - DLo for playmaking, high IQ decision making and controlling the pace of offense KCP - Beasley for shooting 3s, transition offense and decent wing defense Javalle - Vander for pick n roll, cutting to the rim and energy on defense This is gonna be good since Lebron and Ad is already comfortable and complements these style of plays.

D'Lo could be something special for the Lakers. The options to the Lakers' offense is to pick your poison, 2 players who will feast on 1on1 defense(LeBron and AD). 3 point shooting threat from Beasley and D'Lo. Off-the-ball cutters in LeBron and Vanderbuilt. The question is will the 2nd rotation of the Lakers escalate more pressure on their opponents and create opportunities to stretch the lead further out by playing for each other. I need the Rui to be more of a mid range assassin and Brown / Reaves to put more pressure on the perimeter. I need Mo Bamba to box out and demand pressure in the paint. There needs to be connecting tissue with Schroder and Mo Bamba with opportunities for some pick- N - roll action too. Communication is the key to build a quick bond on the on the floor chemistry. We are asking a lot from Mister Wizard (LeBron) to elevate the floor in this short period of time, this is not the time for the supporting cast to go into their shell. I need them to be open to the work and the challenge.

This is great journalism guy, simple but smart, serious journalism: you pick a guy Who has the info and ask him. It's now a full "basket" of "I think" on TV, about the Lakers eventual run to the playoffs. "I think they can beat anybody apart the Suns and the Nuggets.." Yes Sir, but why?!.. "I think the Lakers improved".. Sure?!.. lots of empty chatter from people you already know dont understand basketball, dont maybe Watch the games or love their public image and throwing BS on TV more than sport.. We have been there with all the individual talents in the roster but does not work because the fit was just MEH. We need role players that will fit alongside our duo Bron and AD. Both AD and Lebron are all around players so we don't expect the new additions to play better than our stars, we expect them to play their roles and what they are good at.

The question isn't "Is D-Lo a perfect player?" because obviously not, no one is & even if he was close, he wouldn't have been traded. The reason question is: "Is he better than what you've gotten from Russ the past 2 years" & the answer to that so far has been 100%

Just keep some continuity please. I want a team who I know and can root for. Also with these players at the ages that they are and the salary cap likely to change, lock these guys up for longer term deals and keep a relevant franchise with team friendly deals as the cap changes. Worst case there is you can deal players in a tear down but tanking doesn’t always guarantee success.

Lakers honestly should refrain from pushing the pace all game long. I get that’s what has kept them in games this entire year. But somebody needs to recognize that on top of not having good shooters, you’re now tiring them out by running full speed constantly when they most likely won’t get the ball on transition. Also why Lebron always tired at the end of the game. But they don’t have a good enough coaching staff to understand that.

I liked Ham's decision to start Vando, Beasley and Dlo with LeBron and AD with their familiarity from playing together before. The Lakers need to rack up wins now. I don't think that is the Lakers best possible lineup but, it's the one that will take the least amount of time to gel with the limited number of games remaining.

Listening to 710. AD cost us a lot to get him. LeBron came in free agency. The cost was different. We mortgaged the future for AD. LeBron is, just like you said,. transactional. We are still paying for the AD trade. Pick swaps. 1st rounders. It's hard to deal with that when he was supposed to be in his prime and he is out more than the older guy.

The LAKERS with this miraculous acquisition by PELinka has loaded the Lakers to the ooint that DARVIN HAM will be in the hot seat if they dont contend let alone make the playoffs. His enfatuation with going small should be a thing of the past. It’s understandable he went with this mindset before the trade as the Lakers where AD LEBRON and to be honest either rotational players or g leaguers that over achieve. And WESTBROOK needed to shine for his trade value. So this is as clean slate as it can with more than half season left to ramp up. The AD VANDO LEBRON DLO BEASLEY line up should be the default moving forward and against bigger center Bamba should move to center and AD to PF. Lastly LEBRON should also realize the team is now balance as he needs to minimize those long 3 pointers he grown accustomed to shooting. And ultimately DARVIN HAM needs to look at himself in the mirror… good is not good enough this is the Los Angeles Lakers.
