The main reason is China is unloading US treasury holding. The confiscation of Russian assets by US government has given a signal to the world that you either obey to US or facing the risk.

Americans fail to understand that in Chinese and Indian culture we buy gold for all occasions especially during marriage, child’s 100 days ceremony all relatives are expected to give gold as gifts. You will never see a Chinese and Indian bride without wearing gold during their marriage ceremony. These drive up demand.
