While testing for the Donegal Rally, I had the opportunity to do a back-to-back drive that I've been thinking about since the day the Ford Escort Cossie V2 was finished: is it slower than a Ford Fiesta R5? Or faster? Or the same? Thanks to our friends at M-Sport in the UK, they helped make that test a reality.

As a farmer I could say you technically could there was ford tractors in production (new Holland took them over) but all the fords where 7 speeds and turbo’d.

The thing that makes the Cossie V2 so cool to watch is that it sounds just like the mid-90's cars that McRae drove. We don't have to watch old [comparatively] crappy SD in car footage to enjoy the sounds of the gearbox, the rattle of the gravel, and the chirp of the wastegates.

I love that he's using the cossie, It's one of my favorite cars. This also goes to show how much Ford has progressed with moving to the Fiesta and Focus. Super disappointed that Ford is dropping both models. I feel it's a big mistake on their part in doing so.

Both the Fiesta R5 and the Cossie V2 are incredible cars, but I would love to take the 'ol Cossie for a run or 5. Always been a huge fan of the Cossie and would have to say it would be a dream to drive one.. Now owning one, that's a whole different level!

Both look and sound great. I'd have to behind the wheel to make a decision absolute. I do like the driver to driver methodology vs the car to car methodology. Same car across the board really puts driver to driver measure in place. I love that concept and execution. Beep beep skirt skirt! Could come down to 10ths of a second between drivers.

That's because it mostly is. R5 regs don't allow much in the way of engine mods. Where it is completely different is chassis, braking and suspension.

@@Maroco918 a Porsche cayman gt4 (gt4 it's a very basic and inexpensive class, mainly used in national and european championships, more or less like the r2 rally class) costs around 160.000€, a Porsche 911 gt3r (gt3 is a well known class used all around the world Ford lots of different Championships, like the r5 rally class) costs around 460.000€, and the porsche 911 rsr GTE (GTE it's the most advanced class of GT Racing, this cars compete in the ELMS Championship and the WEC) costs around 990.000€. Cars are a expensive hobby hahahaha

@@CarlosGarcia-ze6rt Exactly, and those cars are not profitable for the manufacturers, it's mostly for advertising/exposure. They often lose money selling the race-ready platforms. The R5 is a complete bargain at 300k, the Sadev transmission alone must be around 25k. I'd take the Cossie tho ;P
