The greatest singer ever. The difference between this man and singers like Whitney Houston, Jennifer Hudson and Christina Aguilera is that he understood how to EVOKE with his voice. All of these divas and their male counterparts just hit the notes. Marvin USED them to reach the listener. He knew when to let it all hang out and when to hold back. He didn't sing OVER the instruments, but married his voice with them. A true artist.

Although I disagree with you on Bob Dylan. I think he was/is a very boring musician and a TERRIBLE singer. One hell of a songwriter though.

The engineer accidentally mixed the two best vocal takes on top of each other and when Marvin heard the playback in the studio he decided to do the whole album that way! Sounds amazing but that's why sometimes it's harmonies and sometimes unison vocal lines, because he was improvising a lot in the studio and both takes just happened to fit together so well.
