1) Dan Moore was a guard at Texas A&M... I think he will remain a starter but may eventually move to the interior (after James Daniels' contract is up): That's assuming, Moore Jr. is eventually beat out by Broderick Jones. 2) I think it's good to get Fautanu reps at right tackle because right now, he is our swing tackle and has plenty of collegiate reps at left; if Broderick Jones is regarded as a left tackle, and Dan Moore is the incumbent Left Tackle... Troy is getting reps right where he should. 3) Zach Frazier is ~5 months out from sustaining a right lower leg fracture in WVU's bowl game; he wasn't even able to participate in most of the combine drills. Zach has numerous collegiate center snaps and it's not a matter of needing to get reps for him... he needs to continue his recovery before going 100% contact with pads, learn the playbook and focus on the mental aspects of the center position--all things he can do while watching another center take reps. Herbig is the one who needs reps: to perfect his snapping, continue to lose weight, and improve his agility. OTAs and camp are where the O-Line coach tests players in different combinations to see what talent he has to work with... there is plenty of time to figure out our best 5 (currently Moore Jr, Seumalu, Herbig, Daniels, Jones) and the first player off the bench at tackle, center, and guard (currently Fautanu, Anderson, Frazier). Barring injury, here's the starting line I predict - after preseason: Moore Jr, Seumalu, Frazier, Daniels, Jones; and the subsequent season: Jones, Moore Jr, Frazier, Seumalu, Fautanu.

You make a really good point about Frazier maybe need to recover, I still think though he should be getting the chance to build a better chemistry with Seumalo & Daniels. The point on Moore at G is spot on, I said that the day he was drafted and have many times since, so it will be interesting to see if he can become Filer the 2nd! You might be right with that lineup to start the season but there’s a big issue if Fautanu isn’t fighting for a spot by mid season. Appreciate your takes mate!

@@steelerstouchdownunder I think our depth is a good problem to have... if either starter at tackle needs a rest, or has to leave the field due to injury - Fautanu will get some playing time... also if we have a game well in hand--might sub him in as well... also be good to see him lined up as a tight end in jumbo packages

You two need to calm down, it’s voluntary OTA‘s. They need someone to back up Frazier if he gets hurt or if he’s not ready at the beginning of the season. So they needed to pick someone to be back up center thus herbig needs to get reps also so he can fill in, if need be. You need to look at the big picture. It will be OK. And I disagree with you I like the way the Steelers slowly put rookies into the starting lineup. Remember years ago before free agency players used to sit a year or two before they got into the starting lineup. It’s OK to get them into the starting lineup when they are ready for a long season, especially when you wanna make a push into the playoffs. That’s way I look at it.

I agree they need a backup and given the cost of Herbig they should be seeing if he can be it, but Frazier’s development can’t be compromised. I don’t mind putting guys in slowly but if they’re better than the guys with more experience just play em. There’s only so much you get from out of game practices. Broderick should have started last year and Frazier should this year, plenty of 1-3 round guys start. Dan Moore Jr is a liability down in and down out. Broderick was drafted to play LT so they should play him there, if Dan Moore is a shit RT and they think Fautanu can start or is close then he can play RT. I’m just sick of watching average play and mistakes from non-rookies, I’d rather see a highly talented and touted rookie with more upside start…even if there’s the odd lump along the way! But as always, I super appreciate the different perspective!

@@steelerstouchdownunder remember it’s practice, and competition brings out the best in everyone. FRAIZER is getting plenty of practice whether he’s with the ones or the twos he still getting practice and that’s all that is needed. The same thing happened when Pouncy was a rookie he started out with the second team actually started out as a guard, but by the beginning of theseason, he was the starting center.

Tomlin is a large part the problem with offense. He doesnt truly understamd the evolution of offensive systems, nor does he seem interested to learn. He is the defacto defensive coordinator. He had a HOF QB and a top 5 OL that allowed him to ignore learning the details of evolving offenses, henxe he has not grown into a well rounded HC. Moreover, the importance of scoring has steadily increased over the last decade, which requires constant innovation in offense. One need not look closer than the lack of QB development and the blindness associated with 3 years of Canada at OC. This nonsense around the OL is symptomatic of Tomlin's lack of understanding
