I love when natural humor is displayed. The show was a hit. Shirley was hilarious as well as the entire cast. If they didn't have scripts...their chemistry would have meshed as if they had them. What's Happening...Still watching in 2022.

I would have loved for What's Happening Now to have been revived in the 90s. It would have been great to have seen Raj and Nadine have kids and Dee married with kids. Also, Dwayne and Shirley, together with kids. Fred Berry(Rerun)had left the show during the show's second revival in 85 after the first season, so l don't think he would have returned if it had been a third revival of the show.

Thank u for posting this. I am the audience member in the red dress when Haywood Nelson comes out @6:30. I thought I'd get to shake his hand but he ran right passed me. Next to me is my sister & cousin both have passed away since this show. I was 6 months pregnant too. I went to four tapings of Jenny Jones Show and had a blast. Went to Jerry springer 3 times. Tried getting tickets to Oprah but never could. I got tickets for Judge Mathis but I didn't get to go to the taping because of my schedule for taping the show was all day. This was in either 1997 or 1998 but I think late 1997 because I had my daughter in Feb 1998... wish you had the rest of the show. It was nice seeing my sister & cousin. We were all very close and going to events like these.

What's Happening premiered two years before l was born and ended a year after l was born. I caught in the 80s when it started showing in syndication on weekdays and when they made the revival show in 85 and come to love the show and its revival.

The cast from What's Happening has genuine love for each other and got along real well. As for the cast of, "Good Times" Jimmy Walker (JJ) didn't vibe with Esther Rolle and John Amos. After airing a show, they went their own separate ways and didn't speak. John and Esther always felt that there was a lot of Coonery and Buffoonery going on with the JJ character and that he wasn't a good role model for young Black Men. People who met Jimmie Walker told me that he's a real jerk and not a very likable person. You see how members of the audience ask Haywood Nelson to say, "Hey, Hey, Hey" and ask Ernest Thomas to laugh and do his dance, which they did with no problem? Ask Jimmy Walker to say "Dynomite" and he'll either ignore you or frown up at you, as if you just asked him to do a back flip.

I love this show!!! I was actually too young to understand the humour of the show as it aired in real time, but somehow, I understood most of the gist thanks to Danielle's dead pan line deliveries. I Love Lucy, The Carol Burnette Show, The Jeffersons, Three's Company, Laverne and Shirley, and The Golden Girls were the only telly shows that riveted my childhood and remained in my heart to this day.

Sadly they don't have these kind of tv reunions on talk shows anymore because thanks to podcasts,twitter,instagram basically social media no one really ever goes away from the public when a show ends. But back in the day even as far back as 12-15 years ago if someone wasn't in a new movie or tv show when a series ended you would have no idea whatever happened to people if they weren't on anything for a few years.

It sucks that Shirley died so young, but why are people so upset that she died alone? That's most likely the way Ms. Hemphill wanted it, as do many others. Most people just use you and steal from you, so she had the right idea. Why does it matter if you die next to loved ones? If she had any supposed "friends" or "family", they would have been around her and cared about her WHILE SHE WAS ALIVE. Oh, that's right, it's because most people suck and only care when it is convenient. Shirley seemed like a nice woman.
