A little off-topic, but this reminds me of all those times whenever someone in the community does something deplorable and bigots jump on it lumping the whole community in with them. Recently it just clicked for me and I had to call a few out on their dog-whistles saying "I will not be baited into defending a criminal". Rapists and sexual abusers don't get to hide behind the community, I'm so sorry (not actually, it's just a figure of speech), but when you do those things you've gotta face up to it like everyone else.

Sexual harassment happens throughout the entertainment industry to those in front of and behind the cameras. The BL industry is not exempt. Having said that, let's stamp out abuse wherever it occurs and support the individuals suffering from it. Paolo, thank you for speaking up. I hope it encourages others to speak up also.

I will support season 2, and am so proud of Paolo for not being ashamed to speak up and speak out when so many others aren't able too! Still a brilliant show and I can only expect the same from the next season after Paolo has time to heal and rebuild.

I feel so proud of Paolo for standing up for himself (and for many of us, actually) and more proud of the crew that took his side and stood up against that person. Victims should never feeI ashamed or fearfull to denouce such acts if that ever happens to them. And I think that there is a serious problem in the bl world and series (including the "behind the scenes") regarding conscent. I avoided so many bl and/or so many scenes of bl just cuz they contain rape scenes and/or minors. I HATE the fact that they make "sexual abuse in any kind" such a normal and trivial thing (like making the victim fall in love with the abuser in the series), this will make us consciously or unconsciously believe that it’s ok if that ever happens to any of us in real life and we shouldn’t do a thing about it, which is wrong. Any kinf of sexual abuse is a very serious topic, especially in the LGBTQIA+ community, and we need to acknowledge that and fight against it. We should never feel afraid to stand up for ourselves, cuz having power doesn't give the right to take advantage of others in any kind of way. I related to Paolo in the series on so many levels, I feel very proud of what he did, stay strong and live fearless y'all =D

Too many things were perfect w GSP that it felt too good to be true. The most hurtful, saddening thing about this is ( my heart goes to Paolo) that this series had such beautiful of message of consent, acceptance and in depth representation of LGBTQ+ community that it created a new standard of BL and left a mark on us that can't be erased. And to see the same person who created this beautiful series (one my favs) to do everything against it's message just makes me so sad. Gosh I have never felt this sad about a series. I know some still want season 2 of GSP and don't want Severo's actions to ruin the enjoyment of this story but honestly I wouldn't watch season 2 even I wanted cause I would get reminded of Paolo and all that he had go through behind the scenes in season 1. I don't know, it's so fked up how we can't trust anybody in BL industry nowadays.

Juan Michael Severo was the last person I thought would do something like this. When I first came across an article regarding this, I didn't read it because I thought it was just gossip, but I guess a part of me didn't want to believe that he would do it. I'm sure we all admired him and his talents, I had so much respect for him because of his talent and how he showed himself and his values. I thought that with his talents, Gaya sa Pelikula would definitely be in good hands. As a fan, I am very disappointed and I feel betrayed that a person like him who I put up in such a high pedestal would come crashing down because of something like this. I feel very bad that Paolo had to go through that. I know its heartbreaking for all of them involved to be betrayed by someone they trusted so much. I would have never guessed that things would end this way. Let's all find the strength to continue because at the end of the day, atin parin ang kwento.

Foreign fans didn't the disappointment we felt. Juan Miguel Severro is a talented member of the community and a vocal one about societal issues. Other victims came out as well, his colleagues and schoolmates so just imagine the huge disappointment.

i'll go for season 2 without severo, the series can stand by itself without him, there are more talented scriptwriters and story tellers around. i sympathize with Paolo and of course harassment is still harassment and should be dealt with accordingly with existing rules and law.

Wow thanks for the video. Powerful stuff. I hope Paolo is getting the care that he needs and that when the time is right the second season moves forward. GSP is a god-tier BL and I would hate the actions of one man from ruining the enjoyment of this story or from it from continuing.

GSP is and will always be a god-tier BL series. Severo may have written the script but the series belongs to community that nurtured it and loved it. The message will always be true because of the community that created it and the community that accepted it-- both standing by Paolo. It must more heartbreaking for Paolo because Severo was a friend to him. They were friends before the series and trusted JMS. Now most of JMS's friends are turning their backs on him and rightly deserve.

If I may say something, I think this has been happening a lot in the lgbt community. The only differences is that people are speaking up more and I love and support that. I pray the victims are taking it day by day to be okay. Love you Paolo, as much as we want s2, we also want him to be very okay and feel safe to continue in this journey. My heart goes out to Paolo for going through harassment at the hands of another of the same team who created a masterpiece -Gaya sa Pelicula. Such actions should be condemned and the culprit publicly shamed, so that he does not have courage to repeat the action again and no victim is found. Unfortunately showbiz around the world is full of such foxes, who take advantage of vulnerability of innocent people who want to be the part of the showbiz. I hope authorities take appropiate action against the culprit, however the pain of the victim can never be redeemed. I have no words that would express how dissapointed I am. I would never assume that a person who's so outspoken about these serious topics could go against everything they had fought for. When i saw the news i thought back to an interview where Paolo said how they wanted to show that people of lgbtq+ community can be professional at work as well as anyone. Just for him to be assaulted at his first big job opportunity. I’ve rewatched the show a bunch of times because the message really hit home for me. I was also a fan of JMS’ work (spoken word poetry) even before the show started so hearing about these events was really heartbreaking. It felt like such a huge betrayal. I also feel so bad for Paolo and the other victims, they deserve justice. I hope that the Paolo and the rest of the team behind the show (except for JMS) can move forward and heal from this horrible situation. I will support them because I know they have the capacity to take back the story, to make it ours again.

I haven't even finished watching "Like In The Movies" but it seems like its a good time for me to finish it. I'm sure that this news has come to a shock for all of us BL fans. We all need to take a stand against these type of people. At this point we shouldn't even mention Severo anymore. He is out of the picture. There needs to be a full on investigation on him who knows what he did to those other three victims. He might even have connections that go really deep into this. It's great that Paolo spoke up about it!! It takes a lot of going through the trauma again and fighting with your own emotions to let it out. Much strength to him! The cast members are there for him, I'm happy they are not taking it in a business way but in a humanistic way. This is what every crew should be, I'm really proud of them. This is so difficult. In particular if the script for second season is good is difficult to move on from it completely now but it also difficult for the production to stick to it and credit the abuser. In a way there s to separate'work of art' from the artist and the person. Im glad the victims came forward , it is so heartbreaking that an act like that burned the struggle and work of all the team I just hope season 2 will take its time to ponder and take the best decisions because the quality and message are there.

Okay, 1st of all - I am shocked and appalled that this terrible situation occured in regards to a series that was all about consent, _healthy_ representation of LGBTQ+ community. I am genuinely scared to even invest further into these shows, because as of right now, pretty much every company that produced BLs turned out to be *shit* . There's always harrassment involved, or any other possible atrocities that just make me sick. Idk how this situation is gonna progress, but I just hope that justice will be served.

One thing to keep in mind. When we support these shows, we don't only support the abusers. There are many people involved in these productions; actors, camera operators, lighting, makeup, and many, many others. For one person in a group to abuse doesn't mean the rest of the artistry is bad. When you withdraw support completely it also affects Paolo, Ian, and everyone else that was involved. Same goes with other productions that have allegations. There's a lot of good coming out of so many BL series right now in Asia. The message of these series will change hearts and influence public opinion and public policy. And we don't want to stop that good work from happening. It's definitely bigger than one, or even a handful of abusers. Call out the abuse, let the legal system deal with them. Support the actors, the crew, and the stories.

I found you thanks to the video of romatization of rape and sexual abuse in BL, and when I was browsing more of your videos, I found this title. I was really confused bc I had no idea. My twitter social bubble is more filled with artists and fanfic writters than not, so while I follow offical accounts like Paolo, Ian, JP Habac, J.Severo and other actors who's work I enjoy, my feed pretty much swallow singular text tweets with pics of fanwork or long thread fics. I remember being pleasently surprised every time I saw Paolo post a pic every now and then, but I thought the lack of activity of him and those involved in Gaya Sa Pelikula was bc they were busy, specially Paolo who I remember he had exams and was ill for a while. I never could have predicted something like this in a million years. Thank you for taking the time and the incredibly hard work into doing this and the romantization of abuse in BL. Your methodic explanations are perfect for when I cannot find the words to explain what repels me from some toxic tropes in media. I remember the face of shock of a friend when I told her I couldn't stomach to keep watching Tharn/Type bc it ridiculized and romantized rape. She didn't even considered that until I told her, and when it clicked she was horrified of herself. To this day she's appalled that she didn't see it. And when that scene of Tutor and Fight came, out of the blue in a series that was her favourite of all times, she legit cried for days. She was so betrayed and horrified. So yeah, how you portray certain things in media is important. The same as portraying jealousy and violence as a sign of "Oh, that means he really loves me" is a very dangerous one and leaves people (specially young girls) vulnerable to future toxic and potentially dangerous relationships. Wow, I didn't knew this happend. I watched this series a few weeks ago and was very IMPRESSED. And now... But I am glad Paolo is fighting back and is not afraid. Also the team deserve respect because they don't accept sexual harassment, no matter how "mighty" the person is. I really wish in Thailand, Korea and other countries who make BL Series were also a fighting will. Nobody deserve sexual harassment and abuse. Nobody should endure it.

This is truly heartbreaking. I read the novel written by Gege on Wattpad after finishing this series because I couldn't help but wonder what happens next. I am so disappointed by what happened and more feel so bad for Paolo. My view toward this series has completely changed. What reminded me of a beautiful feeling is now ruined. I can't look at them with the same eyes anymore knowing what happened behind the scenes.

I was shocked when I first heard about it and the only thing positive that I can take from it all is the fact that Paolo is not alone and it seems the production team and Paolo's costar are with him on this, which is extremely rare in this industry. I wish we as an audience could do more for victims like Paolo, but unfortunately some of us are also part of the problem. People wanting to hear the "tea", who are more concerned about specific details of the abuse than protecting the victim's privacy, those who thrive on scandals and spreading misinformation, making victims afraid to be even more exposed and vulnerable, those who are ready to be the judge and jury, demanding proof on social media, those still in denial or in silence, etc. All of those people are enabling the abusers, particularly those in power. People like Severvo KNOW that a public accusation could mean the end of an artist's career and that's why they do it. They think they can get away with it because the very word "scandal" is enough to dissuade artists from coming forward. I wish we could be better than this. I was very sad and angry when I heard this news. GayaSaPelikula is such a well done BL, so inspiring that this news made me sad for the possibility of not having a second season or a follow-up special, but also too angry because the author acted so ridiculously after raising the flag of tolerance and fight for LGBT+... But I'm glad the show will go on, hopefully I hope as good as the first season; and also that the shit guy pay for the wrongdoings he has done. One of them recommended to me to watch Like in the movies and give my opinion.I was reluctant because I thought that BL movies will be soft gay porn at best But I was amazed by the intelligent, effective way the vexing social stigma associated with the community has been portrayed in the series. The great cast & the direction made me realise the angst of the community touchingly. All the more reason why I was shocked and dismayed when this scandal broke out. I am a doctor from South India - 68 years old with 40+ years of clinical practice and I have seen, heard,read almost all in my long practice. When one of my patients from the LGBTQ+ community recommended this series I was a bit reluctant at first since I had thought that all BL videos will be soft porn at best.But when I saw it I was so impressed by the way the cast, the storyline and the direction have handled such a 'taboo' subject so very sensitively and efficiently that I see some BL series SELECTIVELY where there is no sleaze and the many trials and very few triumphs of the LGBTQ+ community are put forth in a compassionate way. So I was sickened when I came to know of this unsavoury controversy. Hope justice prevails and it's sequel is made as good as this one.

Do we know if this is something that happened during the first season shoot, or after? 'Cause all those live streams where Severo talks about the production and how we should all form a community ... I feel like the remaining cast is doing such a great job handling this as a collective. I hope that this will in turn ease any fears/doubts that other actors facing sexual assault have in speaking out just because of a power dynamic. It doesn't matter how renowned you are, you should be held responsible and actors should be able to work and produce art for us in safe environments. They're human too.
