I finally made an update video about what I decided to do with the Dodge Viper and some of my other vehicles. This is a general update, I will be back making more videos of the cars soon. I talk about the Mustang, Triumph TR6, Datsun 240Z SR20DET swap, 55 Buick Special, 1940 Chevrolet Special Deluxe, Aprilia Tuono, Kawasaki Z900RS, and W800 Cafe.

Hey man, thanks for the update. I’ve still got my viper. I have a few questions. How much did you get for it? Mine has 46k miles on it. Coil overs and Borla exhaust. Same mods you did. Also how difficult was it to sell? I’m a little worried about that when I go to sell mine. I don’t really want anyone test driving it and adding miles unnecessarily. Thanks man!

I ended up letting a dealer buy it. The mods didn't change the value at all to any of the buyers except the wheels. There are a lot listed for sale for too much money, but very few regularly selling outside auctions for those numbers. I didn't want to have it sit around for sale for years just to get another couple grand, and I think the values and sales will slow a lot with the next recession. I sold it for around 48k with 17k miles. Still more than I paid, and beat the down turn. There were a few people who said they would pay more, but were shady and with this much money, I wasn't going to trust a check or stacks of cash without verification.

Yeah that’s my concern. I paid 41k for mine 2 years ago. I bought it with 40k miles on it. With my mods I’ve got 50k in the viper right now. Kind of sucks. Probably upside down on it a little bit.

If a car is modified, the modifications are generally worth nothing or a negative value. When I buy modified cars, I generally subtract from the value based on what's done unless it's exactly what I would do and they have documentation that it's recent and properly done. If you enjoy the car, keep enjoying it. If you aren't, let it go and get something you may enjoy more. Don't get hung up on chasing dollars on a spreadsheet and ignoring the smile per mile.

When you sold it to a dealer did you have to buy a vehicle from them or just found a dealer who would purchase it?

No, they just bought it out right. It ended up being part of a larger deal in the end because I found another vehicle at another dealer I wanted, but the dealer who bought the Viper just bought it for resale.
