What a super guy with a super daughter. Don't ever retire. There is always a race for you Sir. Even if you didn't win, you could finish second and teach a bunch of young guys how to do it right. You are awesome.

Your dad is how racers should be. He’s a great example of how to act graciously. I’d hate to see Mike lose his temper. I’m sure he’s a handful.

That was pretty cool. I Started racing in the early 60s with a SCCA road race team. We ran a propose built CAN-AM type car. Mid engine car with a Coventry Climax engine. Later I got into dirt racing in the early 70s. Hearing you and your dad brought back so many memories from those days. The good times and the bad. In late 80sI walked away from racing for many reasons but one was I was getting to serous about it. We ran for points and we were one of the top teams three teams. At San Jose speedway. I knew that I was putting to much importance on it. I knew that the day would come that I could get into a fight over some move on the track and being 6'2" and 270 LBS I could very easily hurt someone. Not that I would but you need to know I once picked up the front of a car (Sprintcar) with the driver and two crew members on it removing a damaged wing so someone could change a front tire. Racing is fun and I was getting to in to it. I was the crew chief. So it was better that I walk away. I did get back into about 10 or so years later with a RX7 SCCA car and I was older and mellower too. Thanks for the video Wish I had the time to share some of my story's. It was a good part of my life. God bless.

One thing i always saw being a fan as a kid and now is most of the times people are belligerent or rude is due to alcohol. As a parent now, that is the one thing i distance myself from and sit in lawn chairs when we do go to the track. Keeping to myself and teaching my boys sometimes people say and do things that they do not mean. Billy was always a great competitor when we saw him and handled himself with poise and grace. One thing maybe we can get is a dual sitdown with Billy Sr and Jim Mahaney, talking about Victoria 200 races they shared and such. I have enjoyed the Billy Jr and Mike videos very much. I am also waiting for thr tropy room discussion :). Keep up the great work and hopefully we can get down for the Open House this year, only a 4 hour drive.

Billy's quiet toughness has always been the example of how to conduct yourself as a driver and a champion. Mandee, you also provide a great example, as does Mike, in this world of social media and all, of how to maintain professionalism and be mad without spewing hate toward others and situations. Thanks for the great interview!

I grew up watching your Dad at flemington in the 80-90s. I was curious what was your Dads favorite car. Mine was the white and red Schaffer car. I always wished I could have met him too. Great interview!

Nobody remembers a well mannered individual but everyone remembers when you make a ass out of yourself and I would prefer the latter because that second impression is hard to shake off your dad is the greatest and for the most part always keeps a level head and the best piece of safety equipment is stable emotions

Great interview with your dad. I rememberwhen he started racing at Flemington and cheered for him as a kid and still cheer for the Pauch and Mahaney racing families. Class acts. Your dad is right in that people don't like others who win all the time but that's part of the competition. Great job, stay humble as I think that is one of the greatest characteristics you can have and you all have it. Keep up the great work.

My grandfather used to take me to East Windsor (before Bridgeport was even built), and I fell in love with Billy the first time I saw him driving the 15 in the sportsman division. Loved him then and love him (and his extended familyl) more and more as we see him on this channel and hear him talk. Met him a bunch of times because he's always been a driver who appreciates the fans and does what he can to be available and present with his fans. Really will always appreciate the Pauch family (and the Mahaney family as well).

Like your Dad said...You have to have a good reputation to get sponsors. That is so true! I only run FWD 4cyls at Grandview once a month, but I'm probably the most sponsored car there. I've never won a race, but my car always looks good and I promote my sponsors on social media before and after each race. Again, like your Dad said...You either have to have sponsorship or rich parents. Well, I don't have rich parents but I do have GREAT sponsors. I got those sponsors mainly based on my reputation. Yeah I know, it's only 4cyl racing, but I've received over $5,000.00 in sponsorship this year based on hard work and reputation. With that sponsorship money I built a brand new car without spending a dime of my own money....Mandee, your words/advice along with your Dad, Mike and Billy really do carry a long way with so many people! Keep up the great work!

Mandee your right the crew is a reflection of the team and driver , but you have to remember they are the one who sweat day in and out on the car , that their hard work going around the track, just like a baseball or football team. Yep the crew can't do anything but work on the car . They can get frustrated because the don't really have a say on the track.

I've said this once, or twice before, I don't mind a winner so long as the winning don't go to their head. From the outside looking in, it doesn't seem like Matt Sheppard hasn't gotten the winning to his head. It's the same thing with your dad, Jimmy Horton, Kenny Brightbill, etc. I'm not just going for modified racing, Steve Kinser, Steve Francis, Scott Bloomquist, Brad Sweet currently, Doug Wolfgang, and few others I can't think of at I type this. Those are winners who haven't gotten an ego from winning

An incident at Big Diamond between your dad and Craig Von Dohren ! Do you remember that altercation that ended up after a wreck where Craig actually jumped into your dad's car ??? I never saw them ever have a problem before and again !!! It was a hard racing altercation where neither were going to back off and let each other know about it during the yellow !! The green flew and a bunch wrecked right in front of the flagged stand some on the infield some on the front stretch and your dad and Craig were in that wreck both cars done !!! Craig was the 1st driver in about 5 seconds and headed right for your dad's car !!! They had to pull Craig out of your dad's car !! No punches just a lot of grabbing and wrestling !!! Really nobody's fault !!! Neither was backing off of the same piece of the track !!!! Both cars were very even !! It's all over KZbin as the Pauch VonDohren altercation !!! Just heated dirt track racing at Big "D" !!
