How do you make these coasters for specimens? I mean this hollow shape to match the stone...
Can anybody suggest a good starter piece for a poor person trying to break into the scene? Also i have a specimen of unakite that's pretty special i would like to part with.i have pictures...how do i price it?

Corey, the best advice you'll hear from many people is educate yourself via magazines (like Mineralogical Record or Rocks & Minerals), books (check out MinRec and Lithographie on-line book stores), videos like What's Hot..., visit museums, check out online auctions AND attend mineral shows. There's nothing better than simply exposing yourself to what's out there. Once you're ready to make a purchase, figure out what your budget is and STICK TO IT. Buy ONE PIECE at that budget but buy the best you can find. Then repeat according to your budget. If you're under 40, join the Young Mineral Collectors group on FB and participate. There's SO much you can do online these days. Don't focus on the money - focus on the joy each piece brings you. And do not look for validation from others. Buy according to what attracts YOU. Stay active in the hobby.
