Hello again! The philodendron after the "tripartitum" looks like a campo to me. Campos are super similar to micans until they get their more mature form.

Loving the video so far! ❤ For hoyas, I find that with their delicate roots, it's super difficult to get moss separated for transplanting. My new go-to fav is propagating in damp perlite and it's a game changer. I rinse the perlite and then completely drain, then throw it all into a box just like your moss one. Any perlite that sticks to roots can go into whatever substrate you use and there's no rot :)

I generally root my hoyas in a mix of seramis and clay pebbles in a box. Agreed that the thin roots are not the best with moss if you don't want it in a mix.

Yeahh that’s fair hoya roots are a pain to get out of moss. Maybe I should try a full perlite box

the unidentified philo in your second box - camposportoanum! :) :) the thinner leaves and the ears beginning to form at the top give it away, as well as the reddish tinge under the leaves.

A couple of questions! Where do you keep your prop boxes? And how do they get light?
@GoodGrowing
@GoodGrowing Жыл бұрын
I have them on the lower part of my plant shelves with a grow light over them. So they get medium indirect light throughout the day and then a few hours of grow light in the evening

Prop boxes are so much fun, I really love using perlite for my prop boxes but the sphagnum moss is so aesthetically pleasing. Where did you get your live moss from, I might just have to try that !

I’ve never been the biggest fan of entirely perlite prop boxes 🤷🏻‍♀️ I get my moss from Soil Ninja. There’s a link for 10% off in the video description 😉

I’ve bought several seedling/plants from The Eden Lab they are always so healthy, Marc is my go to for less common seedlings/plants and a reasonable price, just purchased one of his Antherium hybrids and she is so beautiful 🥰. Looks like you got some work ahead of you with your prop boxes, good luck 🤞🏽🌱💚

I detest starts in moss. Such a pain to get it off the roots when it is time to pot. I have a verrucosum I keep eyeing and I just dread tackling the moss.

Oh god yeah verrucosum roots are a pain to get out of moss. I defo prefer more thick rooted stuff for moss propping but it just works so well!

I prop all my Hoya in soil! Super easy! They don't love a ton of humidity while propping, but appreciate some. I keep mine in a cloche that's plastic and has 4 holes in random spots for airflow, with both large vents on top open half way. So far 100% success rate with my current batch of 20 carnosa, wayetii, and gracilis (Hoya Gracilis is that unknown Hoya!)! I recommend soil if you have no life or friends like me! My plants are all next to my work space so i spray them as a routine at the end of my day. I have to spray them every day tho, which is a down side, BUT (big but) they are starting to root thick robust roots within 2 weeks. Not ready yet, but should be in a week or two for new homes! I'm going to a swap this weekend. Super pumped to bring some of these. Love the vid btw!

My variegated wayetii cuttings have also took FOREVER to do anything. I got them last year and they took many months to grow even little roots. At some point I thought they were already dead, but now I'm finally seeing some teeny tiny new growth! 🙌🏼 I'm excited for that but at the same time I'm thinking that I should've probably just bought a whole grown plant instead of a cutting 😆

Not sure if you can access NZ fern fibre, but it's amazing to root hoya in! Plus comes off easily, and tbh I end up using it in my mix anyway so doesn't matter. ❤

That’s definitely a Campo Philo after the Philo Tripartium. They look like Micans when immature, but the beginning lobes at the top of the leaf give it away. They grow super fast on a pole, I’ve chopped mine twice since having it for a total of like three months? They’re awesome and way easier than Micans or other velvet leafs.

I suppose they might. But I’ve not had too many issues. If I’m super worried I’ll put them from the prop box into my milsbo greenhouse cabinet as like a middle step

do all scindapsus shingle? I just got a jade satin (variegated 😃) and I'm wondering if it would shingle if I gave it something to climb. My intentrions were def to have it trailing but....good to know about the new leaves coming out looking green lol. I would have panicked. Mine is putting out its first new leaf as we speak!
@GoodGrowing

I believe most can shingle if given the right environment. It needs to be quite humid.
