Hey, I remember that from the MSF! Yeah, I've gotten lazy over the years, but my start-up procedure does include checking to make sure the brakes/clutch work and that the tires are properly inflated :D
@RRatedCustoms Жыл бұрын
Hey, I noticed the trickle charger plug on the saddlebag guard. I routed mine up under the saddle so I can access it from the crack between the front and rear seats. As far as the moisture in the brake fluid, I suspect that H-D has been getting on the dealers. For all 86k miles of my 99, 68k miles of my 09, and nearly 112k of the 14 - only the last time I had the compensator replaced did a dealer even mention moisture in the brake fluid.
@RoadReality Жыл бұрын
Oh, that's a neat spot for the plug! Are you talking about where the driver backrest goes? Because my seat is 1-piece. Yeah, the brake fluid kinda grinds my gears... it ain't cheap to have done, and I just did it at the last service - I didn't expect it to be needed so soon! I think you're right though - I bet they had a bunch of warranty work or possible recalls over it, and more frequent flushes prevents whatever it is that's fouling up.
@RRatedCustoms Жыл бұрын
@@RoadReality Aye where the backrest fits. There should be room if it is there is a split. I did see some grumblings online about ABS modules failing so maybe that could be the motivation?
@RoadReality Жыл бұрын
@@RRatedCustoms Ahh, the backrest slot - yeah, hard to reach to plug in my heated gloves, which is why I have it zip-tied to the saddlebag guard :D ABS module failures are EXPENSIVE! No wonder they'd crack down on that. I think you're right on the money with that one!
@RRatedCustoms Жыл бұрын
@@RoadReality Just a suggestion. I never had a big problem plugging into that spot but everyone is different.
@RoadReality Жыл бұрын
@@RRatedCustoms LOL, when I first got the bike, the plug came out of the bottom of the side cover - and I'd always forget and pop it out when I got off the bike with my heated gloves on. Since I moved it, I can reach it while seated, so I don't forget. Not sure how that works, but it works. I may try your spot though, it would make it cleaner for sure!

@RoadReality my local dealer (3 State Harley in Bossier City, Louisiana), has the HD "warranty forever" that covers everything with fluid in it. I'm bound by agreement to have them do every service in order to keep my warranty. I have to ask the dealer to do simple things like change plug wires or even my battery. Most things, the dealer has to perform. That being said, if my motor, clutch, or primary ever goes, they'll replace it for free.
