Just spent the day in New Castle for work. Run down depressing little town with no character or decent restaurants. The epitome of tied old rustbelt town. Absolutely cannot wait to get the hell out of here and head back to NY.

St Mary's is such a beautiful structure. Confession: I live in Hubbard and whenever I drive into New Castle on 224, I see the twin bell towers of St Mary's in the distance and start singing "Bells Of Notre Dame" as I approach the city

I despise this town with a passion for what they have done to great historical sites. My house, which was on Croton Avenue, was part of the underground railroad. And our previous mayors did nothing to preserve that part of history. Instead ordered it to be torn down. If anything is to happen to this town, it damn well better be working to preserve a VERY important part of American history.

@Layman Gallagher I'm not much older than you. My house was a really old red brick, three story house (two story with attic) and basement with a secret room used to hide runaway slaves. It was torn down by the time I was twelve. Almost all of Croton houses are gone as of the recent Google street view.

New Castle isn’t even in the top 20 like stop. I hate when people make it seem like it’s so bad when it’s not. If you keep to yourself and not into the drug scene, you will be fine.

All success to New Castle Pa. All towns and cities have their ups and downs. Nowhere, including the busy centres of Europe where i live, are immune from changing patterns of work, industry and employment. The chances are that the new tech of the future in materials, energy, products, tourism, will have smaller cities as their home.
