I carry a Sony Xperia Z5 as my daily driver smartphone, and a Microsoft Lumia 640 as my secondary, because I truly love Windows Phone and will refuse to give it up. For computers I'm a Windows guy and apart from my custom-built 8-core Xeon desktop which is my daily driver, I have a first gen Microsoft Surface Pro as my tablet PC, and a 5-year old Lenovo ThinkPad T420 as my laptop. It still does the job as a laptop so I'm still happy with it for now. I don't own any smartwatches or fitness trackers, however both of the ones you showed in the video are exactly the ones I'd pick, the Band 2 and Moto 360 2015 are my favorites for their respective platform. Anyways I'm a big fan Michael, I started watching you around the early days at Pocketnow (in fact you made me subscribe to them). Great work with the new channel though.

For now, as a student, I'm only carrying a Nexus 5X as daily driver and a Dell Inspiron 14 as main machine for Android development and some games like Overwatch and LoL, pretty simple Superb video as always, +Michael Fisher! Keep doing the amazing job as MrMobile!

I bought mine in January, for how cheap they are, its a great purchase even with the new Nexus' on the horizon. Android 6.0.1 flies and the battery life is pretty good ranging from 3.5 to 4hr SOT while constantly being connected to a 1st gen pebble. Just make sure to get the 32gb model, with no sd card reader you'll need the extra space.

Part of me is amazed that you'd still carry the 950 around. Not that it's a bad phone or anything, but the frustrations of being a Windows Phone fan are piling up and the 950 offers nothing remarkable to make up for that. I like my XL, it's a good enough phone and feels like a step up from the 1520 I had previously in some ways... But not in aesthetics. This may be my last Windows phone, at least unless continuum really evolves into something compelling. Anyway, it's nice to see you still carrying the torch for the time being. Hope you like the anniversary update, it feels like a step in the right direction even if it's half a year too late.
@kurtp20038 жыл бұрын
Also, I really find myself lusting for the HTC 10 on the bad days. Shame I can't afford to own a second phone.
@MusicAndCars18 жыл бұрын
Same here, though I carry the old Nokia Lumia 830 rather than the newer 950s. Works well on the Insider builds, I have a good feeling about the Anniversary Update coming soon, but it's just good, not compelling anymore. When I bought it brand new, it was one of the few smartphones with manual controls, and one of fewer with an intuitive UI for the said controls. It had MixRadio app that let you stream music, a nice alternative to Spotify. There was HereMaps with Livesight, a brilliant alternative to Google Maps. Then there were Live Tiles, the beautiful UI that looks more sophisticated than the competition and let's you pin deep links and display information right at your start screen. Now though, only my last point remains valid. The competition has caught up with what Windows Mobile had, and in some cases, exceeded it. I plan on getting an Android soon, but like Michael, I don't plan to jump ship yet. I still wanna do what I can to improve the upcoming Builds for Windows 10, so I'll still be on the Insider builds, and though I as one person can only make a small difference, it still better than me just abandoning the platform entirely. I want Windows 10 Mobile to succeed. Even if it doesn't catch up with Android and iOS in terms of sales, I still want it to be a viable third OS option that people can still enjoy and be proud of owning ^^
@Scerttle8 жыл бұрын
I agree on the looks of the XL. I grabbed a Mozo case (the red and gold one, because I'm a flashy douche apparently) and have loved how it looks ever since. They're definitely not the best quality, but they look quite nice regardless.
@Bobbylim3238 жыл бұрын
I used to use a lumia 1020 and although the ui was smooth, the locked down os did give me a fair bit of frustration. Still, it was a phone that made a statement then

I'll have to say your work at PocketNow gave me a huge interest in mobile technology and gave me a habit of paying attention to the latest trends. Thank you! Now, since you asked us, your fans on what's our EDC, here's mine: Daily driver phone + Bluetooth car and headset: Sony Xperia C5 + LG HBM 260 headset Backup phone: LG G Pro (an old but handy phone. I do intend for the Xperia C5 to be my back up phone since I may consider upgrading to better off-contract Android phone.) Tablet: Acer Iconia One 8 Workhorse laptop: A very old Lenovo Thinkpad X61 with Windows XP Pro (I know, I know. It's literally a museum piece by now but I love those PCMIA card slots! I have a memory card adapter and a 4 USB port card for it. Way more secure just a USB port, IMO.) Watch: I must be in the minority of owning a 'dumbwatch'. I have solar powered Casio G Shock (a model GW-5600J). I may consider a a budget smartwatch in the future.) The non-electronic EDC stuff: a Uniball PowerTank black ink pen with a . 25mm fine tip (it's way cheaper than a Fisher Space Pen), a small Swiss Army knife, mini Bic lighter, paracord bracelet, a small LED flashlight, a 5,000 mAH power bank, and a spork (you'll never know if you'll need it).
