I'm broken and gimped up, so I cant wander like I used to....back when we practiced the art of WOODSCRAFT, back in the 70's....Man;) Building a perm camp here on my property, about 1/4 back in. Leaving most of the stuff right down in the woods, to lighten the load up. But always have 2 knives, 2 ignition sources, and a pistol on me at all times. At a minimum. Cant afford the shmancy stuff anymore, but what I dont already have i find at yard sales, thrift stores, etc. Getting out there is all that matters to me, wish it was with everyone. Rock on.

Okay, I'm a woman and not a "bushcrafter" but my first thought is "what about first aid stuff?" Even for a a short trip to the woods I carry some band-aids, Neosporin, or my little personal first aid kit from Walmart...

Yeah some first aid stuff is a good idea for sure. Change of socks at a minimum. Sun screen and chapstick is a year round thing for me (I've gotten cooked in the middle of winter in the Northeast USA by sun reflecting off of the snow).

I cant believe these comments. Every 1 so quick to hate. This is a wilderness expert. Google his credentials. He doesnt need what u guys need commenting from ur kitchen table. N use common sense. The title says bushcraft kit... not hiking kit, not bug out bag, not camping bag, not overnighter bag. The more u know the less u need. There is so much info in this vid. If u know what ur looking for.

Nice pack and setup. When I go out bushcraft camping I have a modified Fox Outdoor australian style rucksack that I love using. As for whats in it, that depends on the season. For the type of temperature you're in 50s and 60s, my wife made me a fleece sleeping bag and I made a bivy for it out of heavy duty plastic leaf bags. For me it works great from about 45 up to about 70.

The grayl bottle is awesome. I grabbed one during the kick starter and have been bringing it to work (consulting forester) . I usually bring a 3L Camelback, but especially during the summer, that's just not enough for the longer days. I've used this to supplement and it doesn't slow me down at all. It's a very cool system. It's also reassuring to see you, corporals corner, and Dave Canterbury using it too. Great video

I like the traditional olive drab pack look that you are using. I currently use a 75 L Amazon Basics pack. I have a smaller EDC pack I carry when traveling or going to work. I’m a tool guy and in my pack I carry duplicates of knives, machetes, and hatchets. Total weight for my EDC is about 40 pounds. I’ve got two massive ferro rods, a lighter, a can of beeswax/hog fat (for oiling knives and wood), 100 foot of paracord, snare wire, a deer antler (for flint-knapping/pressure-flaking), and a rain-fly cover for the backpack if it rains. I also carry an 8 by 8 tarp for immediate rain protection. Among other things, my EDC has what I need to get by. My larger pack is for long-term wilderness stay and has a 2 week supply of food, and a variety of other things. Cool video, Aaron

Why is the gum blanket (ground cloth), in the bag and not wrapped around your blanket so if it rains your blanket doesn't get wet? Also, how come you don't have a canteen on your hip? Isn't it a problem to have to take your pack off to get a drink on a hike? On a long hike, isn't more comfortable to have the weight of your water on your hip rather than on your shoulders?

Interesting choices. The scalpel blade would be limited to small tasks, I'd imagine; I mean, that thing is pretty small, even if you wanted to use it for a patch knife. I'm betting it was cheaper than a CRKT Minimalist knife, so if you like it, who am I to judge? #2 rule of combat: if it looks stupid but it works, it isn't stupid. And I don't think you'll have any trouble at all with starting a fire lol

Or even smaller with a USGI surplus cook kit with some coffee and snacks inside. Put a little baggie of Bannock in either for a warm feel good treat 😉 JMHO
