What I like about kai's vlogs is the fact that he's just so raw, unconventional and witty with his vlogs... even way back in digitalrev. I mean, he doesn't care about his backdrops and b-rolls and all, it's all just so unconventional... all he cares about is the relevancy of his content. Which in my opinion is brilliant and way better than most cliche photography videos..

Thanks for the heads up on the Hadley bag. It looks like a winner. Btw, the v2.3 firmware update (5/30/2018) for the GH5 (v1.1 for GH5s) fixes the AF. It is literally spot on now. RE: Sony, I love Sony products. My Sony BluRay DVD player has lasted for years. But, I'm a film maker, so until Sony releases a camera that shoots 10-bit, I'll be sticking with my GH5/GH5s.

I don't think the 2.3 is "spot on", but it's a little better for more things than it's a little worse for, which is okay. Perhaps Kai should give it a test!?!

Hey Kai! I would ask you. I have Canon 40D + 28-135 f3,5-5,6 + 50mm 1.8 + Sigma 105 2.8 Macro. I wanna to upgrade my gear, but I dont know. I have two ideas what to do. I just picked up a Tycka Compact travel tripod, it's tiny but extends to be nice and tall, it weighs nothing, it's sturdy, it's 50 bucks, AND you can unscrew one of the legs, attach it to the center column, and bam, you got a monopod too. I love not having to carry extra gear! Your tripod is cool and all too ;^)

Between OM & Panny, I have chosen Laowa 7.5mm F2。 No AF for self vlog but great coz of compactness. I saw Kai have this lens as well. Btw, I think the Panny Leica 8-16/2.8-4 is fine for vlog as it has dual i.s. with new Pannys, with filter thread, and most of the time vlogging uses the widest 8mm with F2.8.

I get what you are saying about Sony autofocus, it's repeated often. However, I've found my GX8 autofocus to work at least as quickly as your Sony seems to focus, in similar light conditions. Granted, it only does 30fps 4k, Cine D, Cine V, 1 SD slot and needs a 2.5mm to 3.5mm mic adapter, but it has a proper tilty flippy screen. Gonna see if I can find an AF comparison between the two cameras now.

I'm addicted to Billinghams as well. 225, 335, Hadley, Hadley Pro, and two Hadley Pro Larges (sage & choc, khaki & choc) plus two special ordered that haven't arrived yet (black & choc, fluorescent orange), plus an unknown number of Dalta pockets and Avea pockets. And where available I've replaced the dingy green insert with the bright orange one for better internal visibility.

I have a small belt pack for my stuff: A small Pentax film SLR, a 40mm pancake lens, 2 rolls of film, a cleaning cloth for my glasses, and a pen for marking if I need to switch between films. Or a handheld flash instead of the camera in it, if I have a strap with myself. I also have a baseball cap so I can keep my camera in front of my eyes if it rains. I sold my digital slr because I like to do idiot yet fun things :P

Since seeing one of your and Lok's vids on Billingham early last year I'm also hooked on their design. Got myself a second hand Hadley Pro and it's my favorite bag so far. Tenba Switch lacks character and hate that it doesn't have a handle. My Ona Brixton also has a nice design, but it's on the heavy side so just use that one as every day work bag. Thinking of going for the Hadley One but find it silly that they changed the default insert over the Pro.

I have to say; As annoying a sound Velcro makes, it's a lot easier to deal with than something like hooks or straps. - But that's why I'd say more of these flaps and their locks should be with magnets. - I'm not sure if magnets are any risk to say flash-memory or any equipment like that, but it keeps the flaps down while still being quick (and quiet) to open up.

If you shoot at 55mm, with some distance between your subject and the background, you can get decent depth of field. If you have a crop sensor and want to shoot Street or indoors than get a 35mm 1.8. If you shoot outdoors, portraits get the 50mm.

It can do it in general, but well... Maybe it just won't looks that special or something. It's not so much about the focal length as it's about the aperture and the overall design of the lens. You'll also find that with lenses like that, when you set it to a longer focal length, it will limit the aperture-opening. So you'll just get less bokeh at that point, obviously.

You forgot gaff tape. I always carry a few yards of it wrapped around a pencil in my bag. Super useful for anything that pops up during a shoot.
