Man, what a treasure trove. Thank you for sharing. I hope that you will share the results when you test those stones; when you get a chance. The Washita stones cut fast and consistent. They almost have a waxy sensation when honing on them. I look forward to the next video. Take care.

Hey Bud, Yeah sure will be a long job but I'll get there, Thanks for your input I don't know much about most of them sop it's always welcome, some were super super hard especially that Wash & it's from a 1950's traveling barbers lot so I'm sure it's a good one. Cheers Fella & you, Christmas season is nearly upon us..

I enjoyed this video very much; it's amazing how interesting looking at a load of random honing stones can be 😃 I think you may have two Charnley Forests in that box. The little German Thuringian/Escher looked interesting. They are quite rare, aren't they? And certainly the Escher's are quite renowned and expensive. Thanks for the video. Great. 👍 I'm going to look in all your drawers now!

Hello Mark, lol I feel the same, even more fun is running laps over them, I'm sure I've got my mitts on a couple of good ones, time will tell. The one that showed it self more when wet? It could be or maybe from a mine in Wales that had a green hue to it as well. I'll get asking more questions once I've tested them. The little Thuri's come around quite often, I like testing them as I get chaps asking about getting into honing their razors & they are a good first option, they are quite consistent & not overly expensive. Anything with a Escher label has gone through the roof at the moment, I want one to complete my honing set but with a young family I cant justify the prices at the moment, one day..

First stone…..Arkansas surgical black …….varies from 1k to?? #3.. Wash a tawh…..spelled ouachita…..example of a lily white…..1000 to 3000be….. Arkansas stones(novaculite) best graded by specific gravity…..ie…denser is smoother but a fine hand required……this is very hard rock! The translucent whites command better prices but a surgical black is hard to beat

Thanks for your input Chap it's much appreciated, I'm quite experienced with my stones but not all stone's always great to have someone chime in and offer there opinion & help. Check to see if they are razor safe first but I'm sure there's a few good ones even if the are pre finishers. lot's of fun seeing if they are all part of it. Thanks again for taking the time to comment

No but I've got quite bad dyslexia, & you all having a go at me over my "Draws" has made me lol hard. I still have to picture my B's & D's & say bad & dad to sort it out every now & then. Hopefully getting roasted on the net will help me remember..
