Sadimal Lmao same! When I was applying to music school, I had to throw out all of my Rico Royal Reeds (i only work a part time job and cannot afford nice music things all the time) and buy Vandoren for my auditions. TBH I think either are fine and most reeds work for me. I don't mind either brand but I do think that the consistency is way better with Vandoren! (The main reason why we buy their reeds lol)

In absence of designated papers (cigarette, etc), I use "end wraps" I got from a beauty supply store. I bought a whole bunch like 12 years ago and haven't used all of them. I've also used that tiny screwdriver when one of the roller keys on my footjoint had a loose screw. It was easy to fix, but I laid my cleaning cloth over the D# key to keep from scratching it.

FWIW there is a way to remove all condensation from the headjoint with a standard cotton or silk swab. Put the swab through the rod and wrap it around so it is thin, then take a corner of the swab and feed it into the headjoint, push the swab through in a corkscrew motion and it's al wiped away. Learned it through the Burkart Complete Flute Guide I got when I was in high school
@mitchsona6 жыл бұрын
Titanandenceladus leaving some condensation within the top of the headjoint is okay, and keeping *some* helps to keep the cork in the top working well.

A good set of ear plugs to look at are called Ear Peace. They also make ear plugs fit to your ears. Their regular ear plugs range in price from $15-50 depending on what specs you get. Their ear plugs molded for your ears are quite a bit more around 129 or more. www.earpeace.com I don't work for them. I am a flutist that uses their ear plugs for our loud pops concert and touring shows and they are great!

There was... I've touched on it a bit in the videos I made last month, though not to the extent to which you're asking. There was definitely a long period where I was like, "So... what do I do now? Should I do this? Or that?" because the right doors weren't open yet. I'll make another video about it sometime later, but for now, just ride the waves as they come. I don't mean that as, "SAY YES TO EVERY OPPORTUNITY" because the reality is that not all opportunities are _good_ opportunities for _you_. Approach each wave cautiously and over time, you'll learn to discern which opportunities will work for you and which won't. :)

I started carrying my band stuff in a rolling carryon bag. I did have everything in a rolling computer bag but the zipper broke so I changed to a carry on bag. I carry my flute, piccolo, instrument stand, folder of music (sometimes two), tuner, cleaning swabs for both, pencils, and a bottle of water (yes, liquid is bad, but I get a bad dry mouth when I play so I need the water, sometimes I have breath mints and I'll suck one before rehearsal. I have the same three peg Hercules stand, bought it last year for Christmas and it's been a god-send. I'm overweight so my fat belly and fat thighs aren't very conducive to holding instruments on my lap, if I try they roll off. I also have the same Hello Kitty pencil (HK rocks!) I used to have a pencil topper that was a HK playing flute but the arm fell off and she lost her flute. I've never been able to find another one :( (I got it at a Sanrio shop that used to be at my local mall but they closed).

@JustAnotherFlutist8 жыл бұрын
I have yet to review one, but Pearls are known to be great flutes! :D
@fernandoperez-lb1bs8 жыл бұрын
Laurence Espallardo I actually have the exact same flute! I think the sound on this flute is outstanding because I have tried other headjoints like Powell and I still like the pearl's headjoint for it's clarity. The tuning of the lower Notes ( starting Eb and lower) are really flat. I also think that the keys are kinda heavy (if you play With extremely light fingers) but if you work through it, you can still perform technical peices like the Ibert concerto 3rd movement. idk why but my flute is always getting out of adjustment every time it gets out of the shop and idk if its just me but just had to put it out there. It may of seemed that I hated this flute but if you are an intermediate, I think you would love this flute and I know that I loved working with this flute. hopefully you found this useful!

Cool Flutist I had that problem too! Check if all wires are connected to the right place. And then, if you want, let someone else like a friend try on your flute to play the c. If they also can't play it, you should probably let a professional check your flute. If not you can try to "re-learn" the c or try different things (flutter tongue etc).
