Just had my first baby last June! You are definitely over packed, but do whatever you need to feel ready. However, I HIGHLY reccommend packing an extra bag to put things from the hospital in and a folder for paperwork. Once items enter your room, the hospital is often required to throw things away unless you take them home. You'll also get tons of papers that give information on getting a SSN card and whatnot for baby. Best of luck!

@@Karrambide Yep, I'm sure for some people, this all works great and there is absolutely nothing wrong with bringing this much. I personally only had one small bag. I knew that I would receive everything I need from the hospital and didn't want to stress over packing a ton of stuff once baby arrived. Everyone has a different experience!

As a postpartum nurse and 36 week pregnant first time mom, I highly recommend bringing a white noise maker. It’ll help soothe baby and drown out hospital noises. Your phone can be used for white noise of course too but it’s nice to have a separate device. The hospital will have bottles and formula but likely won’t recommend supplementing unless baby loses 10% or more of birth weight. The hospital will also have nipple cream, disposable underwear, pads, dermaplast, witch hazel pads, perineal ice packs. So if you wanted to bring less you could probably skip those but totally up to you! Good luck momma ❤

Two other thing I might would add to your bag would be dry shampoo and (optional) claw clips to pull your hair back. People not mentioning the fact that Stephen is so right when he said “I’m not getting charged a bunch on Ibuprofen”. That is definitely the biggest thing that a mother may want to bring is any medication she may want other than the ones they pump in you. If you do choose to bring your own and want to take it definitely ask the nurse/ doctor if it’s okay to take and let them know, you did if you can.

Just had my daughter in August! You did great packing!! I’m an over packer, too. Honestly, whatever you need to feel comfortable and enjoy your experience- do it 🥰 I will say- I suggest throwing a trash bag in one of your bags to collect dirty clothes in. Makes it easy to go dump it all in your laundry room when you get home. Also- I found a sound machine to be amazing! The hospital is loud with lots of beeping and other sounds so it really helped my daughter stay settled in her bassinet long enough for me to get small stretches of sleep in between feedings 😊 so happy for you!!

I'm so excited for you guys! One thing I would recommend based on my experience with hospitals is get and bring along a pair of slippers that go over your feet because hospitals are notoriously cold! Also, if you can, set up a patient portal if your hospital offers one, it's a secure way to get all your summaries and discharge notes. And you can get in touch with your doctor if you need to! Good luck to the both of you!❤

I do recommend a semi-long phone charger incase, and some small snacks for dad & Madeline. Folder or two for paperwork, and some compression socks. I also recommend combs if you are planning comb method. ***Writing this through out video. And so cute for the baskets for nurses! Definitely make one for your doctor. Sorry if this isn't too helpful, but I tired. Love ya'll. have a safe and happy birth! Keep us updated!

Dermoplast and the peri bottle were a GOD send postpartum!! 🙌🏼 They do give you everything at the hospital so you may want to keep it at home for after but it doesn’t hurt to take. I believe the hospital provides ready to feed formula bottles if you need them. I would also say to take pillows!! The hospital pillows are so thin and flat, at least they were where I delivered. Take an extra empty bag to take the extra stuff home (diapers, wipes, bottles, postpartum supplies, etc).

you don’t really need to bring much, the hospital provides pretty much everything! i do recommend saving space in a bag or bring an extra bag to take everything from the hospital home, they throw the stuff left over in your room away i’m pretty sure so definitely grab all of that! bottles, they have there premade formula in bottles so i don’t think you’ll need to bring your own. bring whatever you think will make your comfortable or what you want to have. but the hospital definitely provides everything you need!

Being a labor & delivery nurse- It’s not a necessity to bring bottles. Your milk supply won’t be in for at least 2-4 days postpartum. However most hospitals do have pumps and bottles if you are interested in being educated. Just having her at breast is the best thing for her & you!! Good luck

I felt nasty and just wanted to shower after birth, I could barely stand but felt so much better after & I wanted a clean comfy blanket once I was clean, of course you can ask for one but it’s nice to have your own if you’re into softer/fuzzy blankets or even a pillow and blanket for Steven, my husband didn’t think I needed to pack a pillow and blanket then ended up stealing both because all he had to sleep was the couch in the room lol and maybe some nursing pajamas if you have/want some

My go-to postpartum diaper contained the diaper, pad, ice pack, tucks wipes, and then I sprayed myself with the dermoplast. And I would change, re-line everything every bathroom break. And I used the peri bottle with warm water during and also took my stool softeners. Don’t neglect that part!!

Hospitals provide pumps if needed. They give you the stuff to store it in and you can store the milk there as well. I'm 37 weeks today,1/29, with my second and pretty much everything you packed is what I have. I'm not bringing my pump but if you do want to bring bottles, bring different brands. I'm also going to bring a pillow from home for both my husband and me, hospital pillows suck. I'm also bringing my heating pad.

I just had my first baby in October! You’re definitely overpacked, but your comfort is most important! The hospital should provide you anything you need to take care of yourself postpartum including mesh underwear, pads, diapers, peri bottle, ice packs for your panties, etc. I’d recommend bringing a fan, I got SUPER hot during labor and my husband had it on me which helped me SO much Bring an extra bag to take the extras out of your room! You should take all of the extra baby stuff since the hospital has to throw it away once it enters your room Your milk won’t be in abundance until after you’re discharged, I wouldn’t worry about nursing bras or anything but you’ll want them once your home! You’ll also want nursing pads as you’ll likely leak once your supply is in Not packing, but braid your hair before going in if you have time! My hair was so matted from the process and my arms were sore from holding my legs while pushing for so long. My mom brushed all my knots out for me, but if I had a braid it would have been so much better!

I’m having my second child in May. I would pack breast pads for leaking. I don’t think you need to bring hospital bags. Your milk will come in by the time you make it back home so you should be good. From experience, leggings were not a good fit for me just bc how bulky the underwear you have to wear are. Bring some baggy pants or pants that aren’t tight fit. Bring you a blanket and a pillow!!!!! It makes everything better! So happy for y’all and can’t wait to see her!!!

I feel like being overly prepared is good. Sometimes you end up in the hospital a little longer so you never know. Some babies poop on everything so fast too so more than a few sleepers and onesies might be useful. I think I brought plastic bags for soiled stuff last time but didn’t even think of that the first time.

Bring an extra long charger for your phone, they do have bottles at the hospital but you can always bring a couple different ones. My son favored dr brown over anything. Madeline, I highly recommend looking for pump flange inserts that fit your pump. No all nipples are the size of the standard pump flange, so pumping can be more painful and you get more milk when you have the right fitted flange. Buy the flange ruler to figure out your nipple size during pumping because they do get bigger! 😆😆 a tip I wish I knew

The hospital will give you pads. But honestly, I would get a small pack of extra long maxi pads and pack those. You will have blood come out when you pee after for quite a bit (it won’t always be a lot). Also, pack at least 1 dress, possibly 2. I had to have a grade 1 episiotomy (small cut) because my daughter was almost 9 pounds when she was born, and I would have ripped otherwise. To help the episiotomy cut heal, I had to have 2 stitches (they dissolve on their own). I didn’t want to chance wearing shorts or pants and then rubbing up against my stitches, since that whole area is VERY sensitive after birth. I wore dresses only for 2 weeks after she was born. You definitely don’t have to wear dresses after (just wear what you’re comfortable in!), but, I would pack at least one of your favorite, very loose, flowing dresses just in case leggings are even rubbing up against you/causing you to feel sensitive.

When I gave birth I was definitely under packed lol. I would recommend: nipple shields incase baby has problems latching, diaper rash cream, diaper wipes because the ones I got from the hospital were awful and made her butt red, mittens. In my opinion, I would bring bottles because my daughter had trouble latching and my milk hadn’t really came in and I was afraid I was starving her so I ended up doing formula until I got home. The bottles the hospital had were disposable already made one and they leaked everywhere and my daughter was constantly spitting up because the hole size let out too much.

I would only bring night gowns to the hospital they are constantly checking the baby and need to get there clothes off. Dont bring bottles you will feed them enough with your colostrum! There tummys are so tiny dont worry! I just gave birth the only thing i wore was the hospital gown even though i bought a labor gown and i also wore 2 sleep pj set that was great and has access for breastfeeding! And a going home outfit thats all 😂 i also wouldnt bring a towel i ended up waiting until showering at home and also there will be blood so ull ruin there towels its fine! The pillows didnt bother me bc your in pain so u can only lay flat anyways! They give u grippy socks but i used theres but i also didnt wear socks bc i was hot the whole time! I wouldnt bring any pump stuff unless u want it really bad bc tbh u wont use it all u get is colostrum and its literal drops so u wont need it! Bring a long charger!!! The hospital gives u everything u need for postpartum dont bring ur own bc they give u so much and the stuff they have is great so dont worry
