Ok, as a midwife I would advise Make sure you take some flannels to wash with as you won’t want to be using a puffy thing to wash with You will need to be changing your pad like ever hour, and probably your underwear so take a lot more! Take maternity pads as the always ones won’t hold up Socks? Headphones, paracetamol, mints, gum, Take lucozade sport as fizzy can make you sick with the carbonation

Things I had in my hospital bag that I would definitely pack again: anti bac surface wipes for the little tables on the wards etc ! Burts Bees Diaper Ointment is a life saver! My baby didn’t get on with bepanthen and my doctor recommended the burts bees one and it’s amazing honestly! Also the non fizzy lucozades like the sporty ones? My midwives advised against fizzy during labour (not sure why) but the non fizzy lucozades kept me going all 39 hours of my labour honestly the raspberry one especially! And also I wanted to breastfeed but she would not latch at all after all the help(the midwives and latch consultants were amazing for me) I would honestly pack like a hakka manual pump to try and get some of your milk out so you can give it to him other ways, my baby was in nicu for the first 2 days so I would collect any milk I could and take it down to her whenever I could, just incase you can’t breastfeed which I hope you can as that’s what you want ! But just I found it helpful for me when she wouldn’t latch on so I could still give her some of my milk! Hope this is helpful and hope your birth / hospital visit is amazing xxx

non fizzy because in labour it can be common to vomit, excess bubbles and acidity isn't good and can actually make you feel sicker. Plus, if you use gas and air which is made up of both oxygen and nitrogen (+ co2 from the fizzy drinks), it's not a great combo lol ;) x

Loved following your pregnancy journey. This video has got me feeling so emotional that this time last year I was packing mine and now I nearly have a 1 year old 😭 A few things I’d say/recommend are: Nappy cream - regular bum changes and you shouldn’t need any cream. I’ve never had to use any creams on my little one and he’s a few weeks off 1. A must have was lucozade sport for me, the hospital recommended the sport version specifically and I loved having it for after birth. Clothes wise, if you have space, I’d recommend packing some 0-1 month. Newborn is about 7.8lbs and up to 1 month is about 10lbs where as up to 3 months is around 14lbs. Pads - I’d recommend packing a pack of maternity pads, they’re much bigger than a typical pad, even size 5. Enjoy your final days of pregnancy. Congratulations to both you and Connor! Parenthood really is the greatest blessing 🤍

All the best lovely. So excited for you xxx

Having just had my second baby I was reminded of a few things I found essential to know/have with a newborn.. integrated scratch mitts are LIFE - scratch mitts do not stay on and are very frustrating! I also thought I would have a big baby again as my first was but even if they are on the larger side 0-1 month clothes will likely fit better than 0-3 which are much bigger. I would definitely have a big pack of actual maternity pads not period ones as it’s a whole new level of bleeding post birth! Have a big pack! I would pack some darker bottoms as if you bleed through it won’t show 🙈 black leggings or joggers would be best. Wishing you all the best for a positive birth experience - can’t wait to see baby boy! 💕
