This is the first Takom product I have got my hands on and I must say that I am impressed. However, as a relatively new company they do seem to have their issues based on reviews I have read on the web. This is a completely new kit and of an interesting and unusual subject the M1916 Skoda built Siege Howitzer. Skoda was and is a Czech arms firm that has made some pretty heavy artillery in the past for both World Wars and the kit represents an example that participated in the Siege of Sevastopol in 1942. This kit includes all of the parts to build the gun and its base/casemate. I like it and wish I could start it right away but unfortunately due to other projects it is going to have to wait.

Badass gun, i like the look of the kit. Doing a sewastopol scene or a ww1 dio is very tempting. Good review sir, thank you for taking the time.

Damn you !!!!!! Now ... I GOT TO HAVE ONE !!!!!! LMAO !!! I had seen this was coming out but this is the first review I've seen. I never cared much for Artty pieces but this one has me hooked. Any idea if this changed much from its original WWI form ? I want one from WWI. Great review, buddy.

I want this. Looking on Amazon one Japanese vender has this kit for $7,300 US which is a little out of my price range. I'll try ebay.

Thank you for watching. Here is where I got mine Michigan Toy Soldier Co. and it was just about as cheap as any Asian dealer. Hope this helps: www.michtoy.com/item-TAO-2011-Skoda_30.5cm_M1916_Siege_Howitzer,_%E2%80%9CSiege_of_Sevastopol%E2%80%9D_1942.html

No that's what I call a gun. Interesting kit too Andy. Yea my mexas build was pretty smooth but there were some minor fit issues they strike me as tamiya wants be's, but not quite there yet. I reckon they will improve quickly

Thank you Mark so that is two people now that I know that claim they had issues with a Takom kit albeit minor. Thank you for the feedback Mark. This thing would look awesome in a small dio or vignette and I think I am going to try to find some figures for it.

Great review Andy. Takom's attention to detail is synonymous with Meng as you stated and the parts are/were crisp. I did the Leopard C2 (pre cursor to the Mexas) and ran into similar problems as Norm on the turret. IMO they over engineered the attaching points for the applique armour. Their instructions were good but a little ambiguous in spots. Not being able to truly define the styrene, to me it was akin to recycled plastic e.g brittle and mushy. The latter could be a "heat" issue in the moulding process. Nonetheless, well worth the kit prices if one shops around.

Thank you for the feedback Switcher I appreciate that because I am basically ignorant as to the overall quality of the Takom products.

Great kit. Only problem I had, some warping due to the box being too small.

Happy Holidays! Looks like a great kit.....originally a Czech built design used by the Wehrmacht, something I would be interested in as well. On your Wiki search, any idea of the size of the gun crew? Dragon's Leopold gun crew would be excellent for this kit.

There is surprising little information about this thing on the web. Wikipedia has a listing for a M1911 Morser but it clearly has a shorter barrel. The projectiles weighted up to 700 kg so I would assume it would have had a crew of 8-10 perhaps even more.

That would be nice because other wise we are stuck trying to find something from Master Box or Dragon and I have a feeling this thing had a large crew probably 12-15.

There has to be a loading tray or platform we don't see! The projectile alone must weigh a few hd pounds ? Looks crisp and well detailed ! Thanks again for the Review !
