What's In the box? Ep47 Heroquest Advanced Quest 1992 Unboxing still on sprue sealed cards

Finally looking at the other big 2 Games Workshop boxed games from the early 90s, better start getting into these before all the new expansions come out. This is an unused copy of the Advanced Quest edition of the original EU Heroquest, which contained some slight changes across cards and booklets, and the addition of extra miniatures and a new multi part quest.
Resisted the urge to show off the original tv advert and went for something different with some music and screen sampled from the old Amstrad game version of this.
Just realised there was no insert in the box, I'm not sure if this version never came with one, the insert would be too shallow to fit in here nicely, or if this copy just is missing it, I've had it long enough I can't really remember, but with how good condition everything else is I'm pretty sure there was no insert included, I hope.

Thankyou. Although I'm not sure if this actually came with a box insert. The original insert was for a shallower box so would have left empty space in here, and any complete copies I've seen don't have an insert inside. Perhaps one day I will see a sealed copy opened which will answer my question

Actually, I've seen one copy with an insert. It's hard to tell if it should have one or not, I feel like my battered copy when I was younger did. Again I'll just have to look for more information haha

I can confirm you that those boxes came with an insert, however it was a smaller one which just occuped 1/3 of the box. This insert was not too useful, it only served as housing for the cards, dice and character sheets. The rest of components were intended to be placed outside the insert.

Ah thankyou! Yes I think the box came with the same insert then as the original game, but the original box was much shallower so the insert plus board would have been a nice fit, this box being deeper leaves much more empty space inside. I can at least look around for one or mention the insert in the next video 👍

Ive got an Advanced Heroquest project im slowly colleting as many of the additional minis for I can find at a sensible price. I do need to pick up a copy of this. Im thinking the Advanced Quest version is probably the best one get but so expensive!

Ah very nice, I've got many projects in the works that I need bits for, probably too many aha. The only additions in this version are the mercenaries figures and big quest book, the figures are identical to those in wizards of morcar box if you get that, although that too is expensive. I've got the old Parker D&D box which I'm always thinking about seeing if I can use their minis, but again that's another project that I look at hopefully and think one day ha

I have two copies of this one, one for playing and an ‘unpunched, on sprue’ copy.. mine doesn’t have the insert either but I did notice the door stands are shallower than the other versions

Despite such a detailed and well done unboxing, I would have loved to also see the back of the box! I can't seem to find an image anywhere lol! 😀 (Would you be so kind as to let me know if the back is different than the original box? Thanks!)

Yes the back is different to the original box. It actually took me three videos to include it (although it pans over parts of it rather than the whole image) but the final chapter of my US to UK comparison video has some looks at the box art. QUESTION TO YA'LL PRORFFESIONALS.......if i get this new HQ advanced edition, is there any point to get the original still, or does this have everything and is just a remake or whatever??? thx!!!

This HQ advanced quest is the 1990 release and contains everything from the original 1989 release, plus an extra quest book and a dozen men at arms. There's a few slight rules differences and one quest, but otherwise get this and no need for the original
