Really waiting for an in-depth video on the device 🙏🏻 and if it's worth upgrading from the TLK-100 if the Safe Guarding features are not needed

How would I purchase 2 of these to test? Do they use any provider or only verizon or something? How much is the subscription cost to Motorola a month?
@wsi_radios Жыл бұрын
Hi Daniel, we can get you in contact with one of our resellers to facilitate a demo. They can also let you know what the two subscription models look like. Please reach out to us and we'll be happy to help!

These are only registered for one carrier per country. You can always try by taking apart the radio and swapping sim cards, but please be aware that this may void the warranty, and there is no guarantee that the device will connect.

How do these work? Are they WiFi radios like zello
@wsi_radios Жыл бұрын
Sorry about the delay here in responding... These operate over both LTE and/or Wi-Fi. The Wave radios function in a similar way to something like a ptt phone app, however this technology is built in as a hardware interface, resulting in much more consistent performance that is not dependent on any application functioning properly. You also have an external PTT, meaning that response times are much faster because you don't have to unlock your phone screen to respond to someone's call.

Do these radios have chirp on it when ptt is used or similar to the old Astro Saber MODAT sound?
@wsi_radios Жыл бұрын
@dmotorpshyco yes they do, and this can be turned off if needed in the programming portal.

@wsi_radios Жыл бұрын
The TLK110 is plenty rugged, the only question would be if you have cell coverage in these areas. Since these are LTE based, if you don't get any signal at all they will not work and we would recommend a traditional radio. If you're in an area where you can still send out a text message, the TLK110 will work in that environment. If not, we would suggest looking at something like the R2 or the SL300

Sorry for the ignorant question, what's the difference from this device and a simple smartphone with removable battery , if they both work on 4G / WIFI? What's the point of getting this rather than a smarphone, ruggedness aside? Basically it looks like a closed ring of crippled smartphones talking each other, but I am sure there's more to this. Sorry it's not my field and I don't get why one should get it. Thanks in advance

That's a very fair question to ask, not ignorant at all! There are a few immediate advantages with the Wave product vs a cell phone. We'll list a few (4) below: 1. Efficiency - The ability to make one-to-many calls with a simple push of a button vs having to merge multiple calls together or relay messages over and over. You can talk to up to 1000 people at the same time which is highly efficient and more productive. 2. Reliability - These use the data network vs cellular. Think of a scenario when you're around a congested area of people (such as a sporting event or concert) or a fringe coverage area where you can't get a phone call to go through BUT you can still send a text message. This is an example of the data network being, which the TLK radios use to communicate. The results show that TLK radios operate in many areas where cell phones do not. 3. No Distractions - Having a work specific device eliminates distractions and saves time. Having a dedicated "work communication" device means that when a call comes through the person with radios will pay attention to the call vs potentially ignoring their cell phone. You also eliminate many distractions that come with cell phones (think social media). Conversations over radio tend to be more task oriented... people tend to only have work related conversations over radio (less chit chat). 4. Safety - If you aren't allowed to use a cell phone while driving a motor vehicle (see distractions above), you shouldn't be allowed to operate a cell phone while operating heavy machinery. Hope this helps!

similar question would be why not a poc radio with something like a free zello account? you get the advantages of instant ptt communication without being stuck in Motorolas system and costs?
@wsi_radios Жыл бұрын
The answers above could also address your question here too. Lack of reliability, additional distractions, and the fact that cell phones aren't job specific will most likely result in a lack of productivity or accountability from team members. Also keep in mind that with a designated PTT button on the side of the TLK devices themselves make response times much faster because you don't have to take your phone out of your pocket, unlock the screen, and go to the app to respond to a call.
