Well, typewriters are tools originally intended for adults to use for work. It CAN be used as a toy though.

I guess youth has its frivolousness... I always wanted to buy a typewriter and I had a crush on Selectrics. So I bought not 1 but 4 Selectrics so far, with the "cheat" correction button. I have fixed 2 of them so far and started writing random stupid stuff. Now I slowly realise that they are unpractical, big, heavy and definetely not made for being carried around. Then I discovered what you do and I quite like it to say the least. A friend to do conversation with, a drink maybe can lead to great things. I might buy a portable mechanical typewriter in the near future, so I can take it with me basicaly and do random typing on-the-fly. In Greece where I live, typewriters are completely dead and I like doing something that almost no one does not. Thank you for inspiring young people like me into noble hobbies and introduce them into a rather different world where they can create and document their own stories.

Selectrics are very expensive and very hard to come by. Where do you get them?

I knew that was going to be a 60''s era Tippa as soon as he pulled the case out of the bag. I absolutely love the Tippas from that era. In fact, I just found one that is all original, looks nearly new, apparently works perfectly (I will still need to test it) and even comes with all of the original paperwork; sales brochures, original purchase receipt (with all of the keys tested at the top, hand-written German at the bottom, etc), a manual, etc. I can only imagine that it must have been purchased, used minimally, stored away in a safe place, and forgotten about.

You two are the most entertaining duo of the typosphere and I love what's in your typewriter travel bags. Take care and stay true to yourselves. Daniel

And my bag also contains a flask of hot tea, this allows me more freedom of where I can go to type. As long as there's a table and a bit of shelter, I'm good to go.

I could happily join in and do a show-and-tell with you 2 characters. You don't have two bungee cords for when a jet ski comes by while you're typing at anchor.

Love the Joe and Kevin collab videos, but this one is the absolute best one by far to date. Such an absolute delight to watch, and so much enthusiasm as they're feeding off each other with all the excitement of showing and telling what's in the typewriter bags!

My fave Joe and Kevin chat! You guys are great! Thanks for the awesome show & tell. You've sparked some good ideas for a typewriter backpack.

Some of those items I have in my kit and some great ideas too. I also have a sketch pad and drawing pencils and ink pens in mine. I like to illustrate my own postcards. I have my typewriter, usually a Hermes Rocket, in an inexpensive small daypack.

Joe, very nice and informative video. I do carry a writing bag, usually filled with a few fountain pens, and a couple of bottles of ink. The inks are filled in small nalgene bottles, which I got from my local REI store. The nalgene bottles are leak proof, and work out very well for me. I have paper that is appropriate for use with fountain pens. But, looks like I now need to look into getting a larger bag where I can put either my Olivetti Lettera 32 or my Olympia SF machines into, fill it with typing paper, and go off on a writing adventure. I spent the last week at a friend's place out in the countryside, but, I didnt bring a single typewriter with me. Only bought fountain pens and inks and paper with me in my smallish bag. This problem will soon be rectified, I promise you!!!!:):):)

Recently got an Iron Fox typewriter messenger bag and in it I carry paper, a notebook, pens and an Empire Aristocrat or Adler Tippa S. I'll definitely have to start carrying around some different sizes/types of paper and some envelopes and stamps. Great video.

I always enjoy when you two make a video. This was a Dandy! You two make me realise without thinking about it that,I must be a minimalist. I take nothing but the machine with me. Using the blank backs of junk mail, just leaving my mistakes as they are, and making mailings from the nearest post office buying as many envelopes and stamps as needed. Thanks as always for a fine, fun video. 😁

My typing bag also contain my journal which is a @galenleather folio....so it contains a watercolor kit, a journal, a few fountain pens, a journal, a backing paper and a few tracing paper cut to size to type on and glue in my journal after ( so they don't bulk up my journal) oh and a yellow Brother Charger 11! As far as paper, well I have a metal writing box for it 😋
