The name of the characters you are thinking of are Max Rebo and Sy Snootles. Max is the blue, vaguely elephant-like dude playing the keyboard in Jabba's Palace in Return of the Jedi. In fact, the band he plays in is called the Max Rebo Band. And Sy is the female singer in the band, with eyes on stocks and a mouth at the end of a proboscis-like extension. I know this because I thought the same thing about conchs a few years ago and looked up those characters' names at the time. I love the lil googly eyes conchs have, and their lil snoots, they look so cute.

Fun tip: Conch is pronounced differently in the Caribbean. The C sounds like a k and the ch is also replaced with the sound of k. So instead of conch is would be pronounced konk.

I once picked up a cool looking rock at the edge of a lake when I was a kid, so obviously I picked it up thinking I wanted to bring it home with me. Well when I turned it over, I noticed a big leech inching towards my fingers. I screamed and dropped it, running back towards my family. Safe to say, I'm still wary of big rocks in water to this day. In fact, in general I don't like going into bodies of water in nature for fear of leeches or getting stung by some unknown thing.

Im from Florida and we would pronounce conch as konk, and it would be served as a soup. conch soup was similar to clam chowder but would be quite spicy with chunks of Conch.
