I actually prefer KOA campgrounds because it's so much nicer there, but for a state campground, this one is pretty well maintained. But I know you like to go primitive camping. I've done that for one night once. I don't think it would be possible with three children. Got to have a bathroom at least.

Hey Christine, you can come by tent, just a lot of people like to use an rv because it's more comfortable.

Love the tide pools on Carpinteria. We usually camp at the San Miguel section for the ocean view. Never walked the pathways and boardwalks or even knew they existed.

I totally missed those tide pools. My family went there and left me behind. Compared to the tidepools, I'd say the tidepools are better than the boardwalk.

It's definitely not for everyone, but it's affordable and allows us to stretch our budget and travel more.
