Hey guys, in the 90s my parents decided to get into emu farming here in Australia. We started of with 16 adult birds, 8 pairs. They all went in a 5 acre paddock. We had large round bales of hay, 2 at each spot, with the edge of 2 bales touching to give a triangle area, windbreak to lay eggs. We collect eggs everyday and incubated. We ended up with 100 birds after 2 years.

I strongly suspect the 2 eggs that had a small bit of blood and a little mass in them were fertile, but like you said the cold may have gotten them before they could develop further. Maybe thats why Peekaboo was breaking them earlier, trying to reclaim nutrients since she knew they died? Just based on how the other 2 eggs, one being rotten and the other pure yellow yolk. If that was the case then high hopes on the eggs Bert is trying to incubate and the others you picked up outside are fertile! Also cross fingers for switching the males.

I agree why watch the video & then pop a stinky comment, those people are probably failing in their own lives & its coming from jealousy that someone's out there doing their best & learning as they are doing something for the first time & being transparent as to it worked or not & then think out of the box as how they can make it better & succeed next time. These stupid commenters probably have never done anything on this scale at all. Their parents never taught them any manners or they never heard of the saying, if you don't have anything good to say keep your mouth shut.

The eggs not being viable may be why the emus were ignoring them before and starting to break them. Sometimes animals just know if something's wrong and decide not to invest time in it. So sorry, and best of luck on the next batch. It's definitely encouraging that they're being cared for.

Happy Birthday!! There will be fertile eggs eventually. With a simultaneous polyandrous mating system it is the female that sets up territory and attracts many males to incubate her eggs. If the females are able to lay eggs in a separate shelter for each male, an area that could be closed off from all others, there may be more success with letting the males incubate. I'd imagine that the area doesn't have to be too large because the male will not venture far. Wait, I think I am living vicariously through you guys, lol. Can you tell I've raised my far share of birds. Good luck you guys.

Don't listen to the naysayers. People should understand sometimes things happen when you have a farm. Everything takes time and money. Sometimes we just don't have enough of either of those things. You do what you can when you can. I don't think it's a lack of space. They are very young birds and learning something new takes time for all of us in my opinion. So I pray for you and your family to have success with the new batch of eggs. Maybe the other eggs were just to soon as they are new to the breeding and egg laying business. Good luck and Happy Birthday Isah. Sorry I got the spelling wrong

Probably won't be seen but another easy way to check for life is just putting the eggs in water to check if they're developing life. It's kind of like how bamboo moved when you checked on him with the egg shaking around and stuff but this should work DURING the process of them developing life. The heartbeat/developed baby should make the egg bounce around in the water early on so you can tell if there's a bird in there without having to just wait so long to know if they're fertile/alive. This works with all eggs I'm pretty sure
@TorturaSloot

Watch Bamboo having learned breeding from watching the other boys and him being the one doing it since the girls are more farmilier with him, guess if Chasyew starts laying eggs that would be what's happened. I think it's possible since she's still laying and bert has been sitting for a while so if they're fertalized some are probably bamboo's? Hopefully some of the bert sat eggs hatch.

I love this video and I so appreciate you taking the time to make it for us. It was sad that there Ginny / chicken didn’t make it. I do hope the next time you have a chance when you’re working with the other ones, they all live to adulthood. They were so cute video and your wife was holding them with one of your sons and they were about six weeks old I think she said? I like her idea of getting that black rooster to be the daddy maybe if I could… Nothing that was neat about the other ones was you guys didn’t even know it was going on and so you had multiple births hatch!! That’s too bad that mother hen had to pick on those babies. I just understand why she did that especially since she’s a broody hen.!! I do hope you’re successful in hatching out an emu egg eventually. It would be cute to watch it grow up on your farm.❤❤❤❤ My last comment is for your son that just turned four years old. I was so impressed that he said thank you to all three people who signed his card. And then he selected the shirt he wanted to wear the most. I know children another KZbin channels that are double and triple his age who don’t say thank you unless the parents tell them to say thank you and then they just say a simple quote. Thank you Quote and nothing else. They don’t mention the peoples names or what they gave them or anything. It really bothers me especially when they are sent very expensive items. They’re old enough to read and write and the parents should never have to tell them to say thank you!!!!!! Your children are so very well behaved and well mannered, and so very helpful on your farm. They are so smart about everything you guys do from hatching the eggs and birthing the animals; to milking the cows, and helping you guys with the building of new buildings, and even with concrete structure. I’m telling you, my father had a business for concrete and it’s hard work. Your older son did a MARVELOUS job❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️ The list goes on and on, but they are definitely amazing. It was nice to see the wonderful Pea Fowl building and run that you all had a part in making. 😊❤❤❤❤❤❤❣️🌈👍🏻 one thing you will never say about your children is it they are not lazy❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️

I haven't seen hate but I keep seeing people say ignore the hate so as a farm boy I'm going to add my 2 cents, you literally could not have done any better and you took Far more into consideration than most people would have. Especially those who criticize you and have no idea what raising animals is actually like. Ignorance, arrogance and pride. I'm sorry if you're receiving backlash from those who really have no idea what they're talking about.

It’s a lot of work to run a farm, I don’t know how you guys can managed the basics, definitely that people enjoy criticize others don’t have any idea the kind of work that entails to do what you do and on top of that videos, keep up with the good work, I love your channel and your family values.

Don't listen to the nay sayers!!! I've been here since way back and I love you guys. Your little family is so special! My Mom always used to tell me..."this is the best time of your life and you won't realize until you are older looking back on your wonderful life and you will wonder where all the time went" 💕
