It was a short sighted decision to pull up the tracks between Adelaide and Mount Barker. The tourism opportunities of having a steam loco leaving Adelaide Railway Station and arriving at Victor would have been incredible.

I used to live in Adelaide in the 80s. I used to go to Dry Creek every Saturday morning and help out with cleaning or charging carriage batteries. I really miss those days. I just loved being near those engines.

Cheers, last month I also went to the National Railway Museum, Port Adelaide’s event where they had their real Budd RDC-1 open, might do a video on that someday. If you search CB class railcar you’ll find their RDC.

Man, SteamRanger really knows how to put on a fantastic event. It's such a shame we don't have anything remotely close to that in WA (apart from the hotham and boyanup). Great video!
@redhen3347 ай бұрын
Thanks, I’m actually jealous of what Victoria has with their newport open days, it seems 10 times bigger lol. Steamranger still does well with it though, well enough that we were there for nearly the whole day. I’d like to go to WA, would be cool to see the W class locomotives, of which there are multiple in SA.
@TexasRailfan21-RailfanRyan7 ай бұрын
Wow the 520 survives this is basically like the T1 duplex with the same shark nose but has 4-8-4 wheel arrangement and the 5550 being built from the ground up by the T1 trust is a 4-4-4-4 Class
@redhen3347 ай бұрын
I’ve been keeping up with the T1 trust progress for a while now, can’t wait to see it out on the rails. One of my friends who I went to the event with is really into duplex locomotives and will go to the US when its done, such a cool loco.

I want to see a tug of war between a steam locomotive and diesel locomotive
@redhen3347 ай бұрын
That would be interesting to see! But I don’t think steamranger would do it for safety reasons and also to avoid damage their stock. If there’s too much force put on the couplers it can actually rip the coupler away from the wagon or loco.
