Alot of the Black people have been pushed out by racist uber elite white people..pushed out to the suburbs like Kent, Federal Way, Burien, White Center, Auburn... I think only 4% of the Seattle City Population yet for some reason, there is an over-representation in local Seattle media to help promote a positive image of African-Americans who live here. Mostly, on tv and social media, but walk the streets, peeps, our local media needs to rep our cmty, not just one segment. It would be like occupying 55% of the media to promote Seattle Filipino issues. lmfao. 😂à

As a black person, I grew up with a mixed group of people and have worked in a corporate environment for many years, so I am used to being around a lot of yt people. If you are coming from a state that has a high percentage of blacks and you have mostly surrounded yourself with black, you will have a difficult time adjusting to places like Seattle.

Today is called the information area. I wish I had access in the 80s to the amount of information we have today. I'm Black and tired of seeing videos where Black people move to overly white areas and talk about how shocked they are. Not important. You can proactively organize a gathering. Safety, fairness, opportunity are what is important.

Sounds like it's too much work. Internet makes it easier for black folks to unify under a social and business umbrella, but you're still up against a white economy and social dominance. Black on Black support isn't as prevalent as it should be. And what's there for us really-entertainment-wise? Family-wise? It's great that the city's political spirit has black allies, yet day-to-day micro-aggression is as standard as anywhere else.

Are you sure its racism? A lot of people who move here have a hard time because they're viewed as outsiders by locals and aren't fully trusted. This has no connection to ethnicity. I see white folk from Cali and Texas get treated far far worse than minorities who are locals. Your kids would have an easier time because they'd be locals.

If you hate it so much here, then leave. No one and I emphasize that NO ONE is forcing you to adapt to our way of life in Seattle. If it's such a struggle for you as a minority then try somewhere else, but this tired trope of "institutional racism" about seattle is so disingenuous. As a born and raised Seattleite, it pains me to hear transplants say Seattle is racist and unwelcoming when there are larger areas of our country that are so diametrically opposed that it makes Seattle look like a soft, cuddly puppy. Taking national statistics into accout, the top five most racist states in America are Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Arkansas, and Tennessee. Washington state isn't even in the top 30 most racist states. In fact, it's #7 for equality regarding minority categories, and Seattle isn't even in the top 75 most racist cities in America, it ranks 88th out of 100. So I say again, if you dont like it here or feel unwelcome, leave. You DO have that choice/option.
