Seeing the Ritzy side-on and the buses numbers go by... I've not long moved to the north of UK having lived in London and I miss it massively.

I grew up on a council estate in Manchester, and I live in London now and have done for over a decade. im probably more middle class in many ways from moving to London and after my degree, I like going into the nice hipster coffeeshops, but I can still converse with working class people because of where I grew up, I have a feeling that the girl in the 2nd interview may only hang around with those of her social class, I could be wrong but that is what ends up happening in many gentrified neighbourhoods. It started happening where I grew up and I always felt alienated by many of those people who moved into my area but seemed to want nothing to do with me or my friends.

I went to private school and I mixed with working class people and posh people. It’s not a class thing really, it’s more now pretentious people are. If they think they’re a main character in a movie usually annoys people

I lived in Brixton in the 2000's and it was safe. I liked it.

I lived in Brixton for many years, all of my neighbours had been burgled more than once, lots of dodgy people loitering around the market and outside of the betting shops, knife crime there is extremely high as well as a lot of general antisocial behaviour, the high street is plagued with aggressive beggars (some of which will literally approach you whilst you are using an ATM or follow you into a shop etc), shop workers, postal staff, bus drivers, security guards have to put with threatening and abusive behaviour on a daily basis which is further compounded by the cost of living crisis amongst other social issues. Brixton isn't as bad as some other parts of London. However I'd say it's great for shopping and an evening out (as long as you have got your wits about you) but definitely not a pleasant place to live in or certainly not an ideal place to raise a family.

I grew up in Brixton, lived through two riots. When I was a kid my friends wouldn’t even come to my house because they thought I lived in a war zone it was crazy. It’s been gentrified now, kind of a resort for middle class trendies who think they’re slumming it. Priced me and my family out of the area.

Red Records is gone? That's fucked up, haven't been back in a while but kinda took it for granted that would always be there. Damn

Wonder what my friend will make of this? She works there and says it has changed so much over the years. You need to be a millionare to live there now. It's crazy. I used to have a night out there years before gentrification and they were some of the best nights I had. Though what the lady said is right in that I do feel it will loose its authenticity if it keeps going (if it hasn't already) 😢. As for crime I just keep to myself if I m occasionally there so I never have a problem

Brixton is Caribbean, Peckham is African

So much white people are moving into Brixton eveb though it was a white area and many left once the Carribran community moved in racial issues arised many English moved to Essex to get away from the multicultural feel in London
@BladimirButin5 ай бұрын
The whites moved before Caribbeans came that's why Caribbeans took over Brixton because the whites didn't want to live in run down Brixton after world war 2 and they didn't allow blacks into other parts of London and Brixton was empty and available for them

So what’s your point no white British are allowed to live there?

Bro north England is literally more dangerous than south England, like London is statistically the safest region in England and all the poorest and most dangerous cities are all up north

@@MagikarpMan you're deluded, London ranks as one of the top most dangerous cities in the world, even worse than New York.

@@MagikarpMan Up north is where all the British men live. Down south especially in London they are mainly cowards escaping a war zone, leaving family behind to suffer alone while they identify as LGBTQIA+ to gain a visa while calling for Jihad against all none believers in the Muslim faith. London has by far the worst crime rate in the country.....the black on black violence alone is bad enough....now you got Muslims doing the stabbings aswell.
