I made a transcription, since there are no captions for the deaf. Here's a transcription of what he said: [Subway station] People ask me, what is it like to be deaf ? Simple, I can't hear. [Walking on the street] No wait, there's much more than that. It's similar to a goldfish in a bowl, always observing things going on. People talking at all times [muffled incoherant voices]. It is like a man on his own island among friends. Isolation is no stranger to me. [Sitting on bench with friends] Ready to say "Hi" and "Bye" as I sit for hours among them. Being amused by TV, reading books, resting, helping out with food. [Friends laughing] Natural curiosity perks up among seeing great laughter, crying, anger. Inquiring only to me with a "Never mind" or "I... it's not important," gang's submarized statement of the whole day. [Standing the street as others pass by] Sometimes feeling like an outsider among the hearing people, even though it was not their intention. [Walking on street] Always assuming that I'm a part of them by my physical presence, not understanding the importance of communication. Being at a lost with control of the environment that is communication. Deaf people are still human beings with DREAMS, DESIRES, AND NEEDS TO BELONG. Just like everyone else.

do you use sign language?
@d-rosefan91278 жыл бұрын
I'm deaf. I was born dear and I'm 13 years old. Some people decide to do sign language and some use hearing aids/cochlear implants, they are the things I wear and they work really well!
