I just got awarded the ETA award so I'm wondering how to rank the locations!

Congratulations! And I was down in Pingtung County - it's really up to you, but it's def tricky because you don't have all the info lol. Do some thorough research before choosing. Pingtung was ranked #3 for me, and I only put it that high because Fulbright mostly showed Kenting and the whole beautiful southern tip of Taiwan instead of the farmlands that largely comprise Pingtung County. I actually LOVED it there at the end of the day, but if you're looking to be somewhere with cities or any activity going on, definitely don't pick it. I taught in remote indigenous schools in/around the mountains, but I was very fortunate in that because most people taught in larger schools in the towns and "cities". Taipei is Taipei, if you're looking for a solid city with a lot of western culture and people who speak English, go there. If you want a more immersive experience and to learn Mandarin better, somewhere like Hualien, Taitung, Pingtung, Penghu, or Kinmen might be a good pick. BUT only go to Penghu or Kinmen if you're looking to be even more isolated and have only a small island (or group of islands) readily available for exploration. Getting to the mainland is doable, but obviously more difficult and expensive than simply taking trains. Please lmk if you have any more questions!

Nice video! Very cool insights you have teaching in Pintung. Am applying for Fulbright here myself and stumbled upon your video. Really admire your energy and active attitude. If Fulbright grants me the opportunity to go to the US, I am gonna spend the time like you did!

Kids in the third grade to the sixth grade are the best in Taiwan 🙌🙌🙌 They’re so creative, responsive and adorable 🥰 It’s amazing that you share these information about Fulbright Taiwan! This is the first time that I know they seek ETA / ETF!

They really are amazing! I miss them a lot. Yeah, I think there are around 150 ETAs and ETFs around Taiwan through Fulbright. They even seem to be expanding more and more!
