Used to go sea fishing out of Saltcoats harbour in the 80s when i was a kid with my father & brothers. The Helena. was our boats name. Filled the boat back then. Especially if we hit a shoal of makeral. Great memories. Shame theres not a single boat in the harbour now. 😢

Fantastic Nico I love the more sheltered kinlochleven had a great summer there caught a P B wrasse this year find they are a bit hard to identity.I think it might have been a corkwing wrasse using a small HTO lure took me 2hours of preservering at the rock wall but we'll worth the wait

Not much, once the macky leave. I sometimes imagine what fish stocks were like 1000 years ago. The seas were heaving with fish. All you had to do then was build a fish trap on the shore with rocks, some of which remain on my home island, bute. Good vid...you catch more than we do haha!

Come across this channel other week seen you out in your boat in gourock start of the month a think. Plenty of fish in there a go up park lee right up at the sand banks walk out and cast out far as a can get cracking sea throut and big cod dont think its fished up there in the channel so mutch

I can recall a guy called Doug Dinnie and his friend who's name escapes me regularly catching cod over 40lbs over the Gantocks mark off Gourock in the 1970s. Not been sea fishing for 30 years so out of touch. Is there still big cod being caught anywhere around the UK?

@@weebolddavy best cod around this area are 3 lb , the pollock go to 5lb . Nowhere near the old days , to be fair most nature is gone , it’s hard to see a hedgehog and they use to be plenty back in the days . But thanks for tuning in this weekly adventure close to the waters .

Nice fish , I used to go boat fishing in the clyde way back as a kid in the early1980's there wasn't much about in the clyde back then BUT Loch long and Loch fine fishing was amazing and teaming with fish. That a vintage Abu Garcia multiplier your using ?

@NicolasValentinScotland hi mate. My father in law is a kayaker from Greenock Boat Club. The clyde has never been healthier. We have a population of bottle nose dolphins in the clyde, seals and sometimes whales.

@NicolasValentinScotland you're fishing a tiny area...two seals out at Lunderson Bay. Pod of Dolphins not been spotted in a few months. Plenty of fish in the Clyde...come back and fish near Millport.

The only place where they are not able to go is stuffed with fish . I wish we could all make it better for recreational angling , that would benefit so many people in this area . But it will not happen .

@@delektrik1 loch craignish will be stuffed with fish , you need to make a plan on how to catch them . For cod I would use hokky baited with raw prawns fished just above the bottom .

Most spinners will catch fish , lures must be fished close to the kelp bed at reasonable speed . The line used can play a big factor , I use a fine strong braid , location and tide also play a part . and the number of cast .. many factors . it's not a science , it's an ART !

Angler all my life. It sickens me to be a generation of man to have to realise this. I dont like fishing unless there's an abundance. It shames me! Firth of Fourth has killed my joy. What's wrong with it? Radioactive? I kept catching small deformed fish for years. Saddening. I'll fish when there's fish, healthy seabeds and abundance again. Makes me wonder if it's all like Sydney Harbour from finding Nemo under there?
