I have no doubt now there is weather control occurring at this lake. There is a lawsuit going on with SAWS. Maybe that's why. Peoples' wells are drying up. And the corn crop down towards Castroville looks like sh*t this year. It never rains here. It ALWAYS misses the lake. In fact there is rain right now that is missing the lake. It rains all around the lake but rarely over the lake or north of the lake where it needs to rain. I have dozens of documented radar screen shots and videos of this anomaly.

So sorry to hear about this lake being so very low! Great to drive around with you and see the area, great information about the dam too. Is there even any water up against the dam?Too bad the local businesses had to close, and the park too. It sure did look like a fire went through there, but I guess all the trees just dried up. ☹ Thanks for documenting this and sharing! We really enjoyed our trip to west Texas and are enjoying learning more… thanks! 👍👍

Thank you, Jennifer. I believe there is water at the dam. I couldn't get close enough to see it. We were in West Texas recently. Have a good evening.

Sad to hear the lake is so low. Where you mention the lake should be up too and seeing the dam you can't even access is a shame. Scary. Things improved in California last year and hopefully some of that rain will make it your way! Thanks so much for the tour.
@hikingwithjackieboy Жыл бұрын
Years ago, we could walk the dam. Property owners across the lake could drive it. It wouldn't surprise me if the park is never reopening.

Wow, how sad. Medina Lake has some wonderful memories for me. A friend of mine had a cabin on the lake, and we would go boating and jet skiing, and do a lot of fishing. The lake also contained a lot of snapping turtles, we would have to be careful swimming. But we still had a blast. I recently just heard about Medina Lakes low level, it is shocking. I hope it can fill back up some day soon, and became the fun water get away for everyone again. Thanks for going out there and shooting this video, and giving us a close up look. Safe travels, and God Bless.

I remember the flood with the water going over the spillway. Everyone thought the dam was going to break and flood Castroville. We were even making what if evacuation plans since the Medina river runs next to Dominguez.
@hikingwithjackieboy Жыл бұрын
I remember that. After that, they closed access to the dam.

A lake that low. That is very sad. I think videos of natural places are very important. Mainly because they may not be there much longer. We take soo much and give back very little. I live by take what you need, not what you want and always give back.

It’s a global issue at this point. Excess water in some places, barely any in others… The animals who can migrate or travel great distances are indicators of things that are yet to come. Last year I did my best to get the hosts at Big Bend to close the campgrounds to help out the drought stressed bears (they mistakenly claimed the bears were after mesquite beans) and this year a bear nearly ambushed me in the desert because it was so hungry. Thank you for touching on the climate challenges, it is not focused on enough for it to be the *only* headline that matters in the way it could be… Not yet anyway.

I have been working outdoors for the past 30 years. I have seen it get progressively hotter each year. Yes, I do believe it is climate change.

@hikingwithjackieboy Жыл бұрын
@JoeSchirmer1 the place next to the dam is a private residence now. The Bandera County Park is the only public access to the lake. I hope that it's close now just because of water level and not permanently
