Fun fact: To do more justice to the true story Lawrence Fishbourne actually opted to sing Ike’s part live. So yes, that’s actually him singing. Angela Bassett kept to lip syncing because Tina’s range was 1) quite difficult and 2) this was Angela Basset’s first ever role! And she did phenomenal ❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥

The book was so much better. The movie had so many false parts. But she left with 36 cents and a mobile gas card and then had to pay 100k in cancelled shows due to her leaving.She just worked and worked after that. It’s incredible to start your life over with 36 cents in debt and to end your life worth over 200 million.

great movie reaction and discussion. I watched this on VHS and its a great movie but nothing you want to rewatch, im glad you had your reaction as i havent watched this since 2002. Tina went through so much and remember her rise with Whats Love Got to do with it album in early 80's and Mad Max. We miss her dearly and glad she eventually find happiness and understand why she never wanted to be stateside after all this foolishness.

I'm giving a like just for the choice. This is such a staple on our household. Interesting fact, Phil Specter the producer of "River Deep Mountain High" was known for his "wall of sound". He was married to singer Ronnie Specter (Be My Little Baby). He was also abusive. You may want to consider using closed caption during your reactions. No need to disrespect, they were divorced almost 50 whole years ago and your info on him is wrong. He didn't die broke, he was bad with business and didn't have cash. Same as Mike, biggest pop star had no access to his own money because it wasn't in cash but a business deal. Different cause, same effect but Ike's kids and grand kids, including those connected to Tina are on his estates board! He had to tour while he was alive to make money but now his lineage is just working his estate and as long as his credited music sales they'll have jobs. This includes those earlier tunes written for and sung by Tina but they're not her biggest so I imagine the estate sees a small revenue of his solo sales plus Tina's projects featuring his music. But the man went to be recognized by the industry finally winning a solo Grammy in 2005 and becoming inducted in multiple H.O.F. Are we selective about when we choose to see the artist from the people?
