not likely much eternal peace if the theories about the circumstance of her death, as being knocked off the boat by an enraged husband, I believe it was, and left to drown -- but according to the coroner, put up a HUGE battle to survive ...... SAD story - a Hollywood mystery she'd been better off NOT to have starred in ......

Long but worth the read for the information...And don't forget, This Property is Condemned. And Inside Daisy Clover. She mentioned them, but they were great movies. I dont remember any of her other movies once she grew up. Except Splendor. Never saw her childhood acting. Mary Badham who played her little sister in This Property is Condemned had also played the part of Jean Louise Finch aka Scout in To Kill a Mockingbird. Another favorite movie of mine as a child. Natalie, as Alva Starr, in This Property is Condemned ,did a scene with Mary ( as Willie Starr ), where she told a whopper about going all the way to Memphis on a date to the Peabody Hotel for Dinner and Dancing and saw the little ducks they run in the halls to go swim in that little pond in the lobby. I didnt believe that was real because between her and Robert Redford ,who played Owen Legate, added another animal to the pond story. I was 8 or 9 when I first saw it. Well when we took a trip a few years back in my 50s to The Peabody Hotel after visiting a friend in Memphis. Being such a huge fan of Natalie's I absolutely HAD to stay at the Peabody Hotel ! Imagine my surprise when I found out they really did bring the ducks down in the elevator and walk them down a red carpet to the pond where they swam around !!! 🥰❤❤❤ Oh the Joy!!! I kind of tear up thinking back to that day. The other animal was NOT there ,of course lol. But the 2 rubber ducks, stamped Peabody Hotel , in cellophane in our room were most definitely purchased by me . Even their bathroom soap is in the shape of ducks. Absolutely wonderful breakfast. Classy dining room. I could have spent the day and evening and another night there just rambling around looking at antiques and the little museum. Sadly not 1 mention of Natalie . But I would have loved to try their lunch and dinner. To see the ducks, check what time they bring them down. Its in the morning so make sure you ask when you check in. And get up to the second floor balcony over the front desk side and get a good view of the pond and elevator. It was special to this older lady, because I had loved Natalie in that love story so much all my life and here I was where she, as her character, wanted to go so badly. I wonder if Natalie ever actually visited there or not. Do Valet parking unless you are very fit. You will get to walk across a glass elevated hallway from the parking garage to the hotel if you are up for it. Pretty views at night . Yes, I still have my pair of yellow duckies from the Peabody sitting in my bathroom at home. RIP Natalie . You were so beautiful and such a good actress and I know your sister Lana loved you dearly. Or is it Llana? She wrote a book or 2 about Natalie. I feel the way she has publicly stated she feels. But can't bring myself to read the book(s). I want to remember Natalie as young and beautiful and happy . God will take care of the rest. Oh my word! I just found out Mary Badham went to play in To Kill a Mockingbird after decades of having a normal life. And am tickled that she played Mrs.Duboise. lol Watch the movie and you will see why I laugh.

Natalie Wood was indeed a beautiful, talented screen goddess, but my heart here belongs to Phyllis Newman, who back then delighted regular watchers of these shows with her wit, vivacity, and cuteness, especially those who shared her New York and ethnic background. After a long and successful career, she passed away at 86 in 2019. In 1988, I was delighted to receive a personal reply from her, a postcard, when I sent her my reactions to her just-published autobiography ( _Just in Time_ ) and admiration. I miss her more than any of these others (I watched WML regularly "in the day"). "Those were the days".

But I have never seen Natalie Wood in anything else; no other interview or picture or anything. To see her here, 11 years older, I was scanning her every move and word to look for Judy, and every time I found something, like the laughter which is replicated when she and James Dean and Sal Mineo play in the deserted mansion, it was like seeing an old friend again. What an amazing experience for me. She was so beautiful and such a wonderful actor

Natalie the year before was in Blake Edwards's "The Great Race" with Jack Lemmon and Tony Curtis. I think it is the funniest movie of its era. If you have never seen it, there is something to watch. Lemmon looks funny, talks funny, stands funny, sits funny and is involved in the biggest pie fight ever put to movies.
@preppysocks209

Everyone is entitled to an opinion. I found that film to be juvenile and silly. When one considers what Tony Curtis and Jack Lemmon could do with a good comedic script like "Some Like It Hot," it is sad to see how their talents were wasted. Lemmon is a cardboard villain with the same sight gags over and over with Peter Falk. So much funnier films from the 1960s -- Dr Strangelove, The Pink Panther, The Fortune Cookie, and so many more.

Natalie almost chocked in the Royal Bakery sketch in which her cue to open her mouth aghast at the comic bakery antics and a real piece of pastry went in to her mouth and down her throat, causing her to violently cough and gasp on the unexpected cake in her mouth. This was all real pastry and it cost back in 1965 about $30,000 to make- the equivalent of several hundreds of thousands of dollars today, but the visual effects were well worth the expense. Blake Edwards insisted on realism, so real pastry and cakes were used and he also wanted the most colorful icing and fillings to be used so that the technicolors would stand out brilliantly- he succeeded!
@freeguy77
@freeguy77 2 жыл бұрын
That pie fight had 4,000 pies, but over 5 days, and not all were thrown! Many were for set dressing or continuity, and not thrown at all. "The Battle of the Century" (1927, Laurel & Hardy) had an amazing, lower amount 3,000 pies, but all were thrown but in a single day, which is the still-standing record of pies thrown! Laurel & Hardy's pacing was far superior to "The Great Race" pie fight pacing, per many critics. Trivia on "The Battle of the Century"--a young Lou Costello can be seen as a member of the prizefight crowd. He was then 21. Died just three days before his 53rd (Mar. 6, 1906) on Mar. 3, 1959. More related trivia to The Great Race on Lou Costello: his final film "The 30-Foot Bride of Candy Rock" co-starred...wait for it...Dorothy Provine! Filmed in Dec. 1958, she was then 23. Released on Aug. 6, 1959, five months after Lou died.
